Yes, the Maronites are Syriac Christians who are in communion with Rome, and they are part of the same ancient Syrian Christian community which has existed there for the last two millennia. In all fairness, there are plenty of times I simply don't bother to click a link to a website or watch a Youtube video. For example, there's a very good chance that if a flat-earther posts an hour long video that "proves" the earth is flat and that the sphericity of the earth is a massive demonic conspiracy perpetuated by Jesuit Mason lizard people--nobody got time for that.

So at the very least I can understand not bothering with someone you already regard as pure bananas.

Even if I would agree that looking at the verifiable evidence of a claim is something worth doing and simply avoiding something because it disagrees with my current views isn't helpful. I can still understand the natural response to roll one's eyes at something one is already quite thoroughly convinced is silly.
