He's lost almost all support, even among those who voted for him twice.

There's really just a few left who want to see another 4. He has zero chance of a nomination; he'll never get through the primary unless he runs 3rd party, and that's a loosing road.

This is my prediction:

I love what he did in office, but his time is over.. his support base is moving on.
Right now the early primary polling comparing him to DeSantis seems to be going back and forth.

Then there are other polls that have DeSantis beating him handily, and the polls seem to have some fluidity.

And if you've spent any time in the rural midwest, the Trump 2024 flags are already showing up in a lot of yards.

Interesting detail:

When she announced her campaign on Wednesday, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley opened with an invocation by John Hagee, an evangelical pastor whose support the late Sen. John McCain had to disavow in his 2008 presidential campaign because of statements that McCain called “crazy and unacceptable.”

--

At a late-afternoon rally in Stockton, McCain said he rejected the endorsement of John Hagee after learning of a [late 1990s] recording in which the San Antonio pastor portrayed Adolf Hitler as being sent by God to force Jews “to come back to the land of Israel.”

An organization supporting Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign used location data to send misleading ads to people who attended campaign events for Nikki Haley’s nascent presidential run.

The ads used location data to target people who were in the 50323 zip code on Monday, the site of Haley’s first visit to Iowa since announcing her candidacy. She is not, in fact, backing her old boss.

The PAC that bought the ads, the Trump Save America Joint Fundraising Committee, works in conjunction with Trump’s principal campaign committee, according to Federal Election Commission records. The two share a treasurer.

Obviously it's her home state, but Haley polled well in South Carolina (far behind Trump though), but much better than fellow Palmetto Stater Scott.

Former President Donald Trump 53%
Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley 22%
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis 11%
South Carolina Senator Tim Scott 6%
Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie 2%
Former Vice President Mike Pence*** 2%
Businessman Vivek Ramaswamy 1%

I seriously SERIOUSLY wonder if Trump just disappeared how his votes would distribute themselves....

Not perfect, but the poll has analysis for combining people's first and second choices:

Trump is first, with 66%, and then:

Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley 41%
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis 35%
South Carolina Senator Tim Scott 25%

I’m very disappointed by Republicans over the last 40 years or so. In the late 50s/early 60s, the Dems were strongly segregationist, and opposed to interracial marriage. Republicans--especially in the north--were the progressives. Without people like Jacob Javits, Everett Dirksen, and George Aiken, the various Civil Rights Acts might not have become law. Today's GOP has been hijacked by regressive politicians wanting to bring back the values and attitudes of the 1950s. Which is lunacy. Times and politics don't go backwards.

Fortunately, there is a small cadre of moderate, forward-looking Republicans. They're fiscally conservative, and socially liberal. If the GOP is going to survive for the long term, this is the template.

WHO WE ARE — Moderate Republicans

In another poll, 82% of Trump supporters say they will never support anyone else.
So if they stay home in November, 2024, yippee!
As IF reasonable people will think that is a "good sign" for democracy and that Trump is not trying to foster a cult-like following (and succeeding, mind you)
