Why would you believe me about Nicolas the heretic.

Do you really think that all the Ancient Church are wrong about public worship being ceremony? THEY ALL AGREE, EVERY ONE OF THEM. From Jerusalem to Rome...

These Churches are independant and all have their history to draw from... how is it that we can say something is false when all of them agree on a subject?

Forgive me...
You haven't shown me yet where oil was part of the last supper. And I've never heard of Nicolas the heritic
Public worship yes. Heb does say not to forsake gathering together.

I didn't know that. I'm not familiar with them.

During the Diocletian persecution, Nicholas was imprisoned for being a Christian. He became a bishop of Myra (now in Turkey) in the mid 4th century. He was an opponent of Arianism (Arius taught that Christ was not God, but a creation) and was also noted for his almsgiving.

EDIT:

I should add, he was known for his asceticism - quite the opposite of the materialism associated with the secular holiday.
Also, he was not married.

I thought I would add - on the subject of oil:

James 5:14-15

Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

Brought outside the camp

Gen 14: 18 Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. He was priest of God Most High, 19 and he blessed Abram, saying,
"Blessed be Abram by God Most High,
Creator of heaven and earth.

Was David not told to abide in Hebron, just as Jacob was told to abide at Bethel
Abraham would accept nothing but David took it all.

22 But Abram said to the king of Sodom, "I have raised my hand to the LORD, God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth, and have taken an oath 23 that I will accept nothing belonging to you, not even a thread or the thong of a sandal, so that you will never be able to say, 'I made Abram rich.'

A lot more to the story than meets the eye.

Samuel gained the priesthood by the Naririte vow, God taking out the Aaronic preisthood. I assume that's the priesthood your refering to. The
people prefered a king and reinstated Aaronic priests. God hasn't been in the temple since. read the last prophetes' recorded words condemning it (Hulda) There have been many prophetesses since (including 4 were Paul stayed) but not a word recorded. Silenced.

Jesus is our Bethel.

So... you're just arguing against Bishops and the Priesthood?

That was the purpose of this thread correct?

Forgive me...
The op is a question. The purpose is fellowship.

I think God's Word is so multi-faceted that it wouldn't be until every person in the body of Christ gave their veiw that we'd be able to see the whole picture. What you see and I see help each other to see more of God. Fellowship..amen

What does it mean to conquer the lay people? And why is it called a Christian heresay?

This argument is used by many to show that there should not be a clergy of The Church and that the only valid form of Priesthood is the Priesthood of all believers.

They are claiming that the seperation of clergy and laity is a heresy.

Pardon me for thinking that you were attempting to use their argument.

Forgive me...

Of course it is also possible to think the division between clergy and laity is wrong, but that the Nicolaitans are a bad argument against it.
What would you consider a good argument?
