And, many of us have returned because we contemplate staying around a while. But we want to understand what we're getting into before we make that committment again.

I think that is valid.

I've been here at CF through many changes. I've watched the Nicene Creed come and go and change. This... It's just.. another change. Why people feel it necessary to bring out the argumentative guns, I have no idea. Change happens. I doubt it will be the last. I know it won't be the last, whether it be a short or long time period before the next change, it will come. It always comes.

Someone else hit the nail on the head... how we treat one another is what really matters on a message board. Whether the Nicene Creed is here or not, is irrelevant to me at the end of the day. The most sad thing is to watch people fight about it.

Ahh well..
thanks

There will be no icon hunts. If that returns, I will quit. As long as I'm here, as well as Tonks and Gweny, Arbor, there will be no icon hunts. There will be none of staff telling people to choose a different icon. There will be no staff switching icons. Remember how they used to do that? I was made to do that to someone. Huge regret of my life. I won't be party to it, I won't stand for it, if I find out a member of staff has ever told a member they shouldn't have a Christian icon I will burn down the staff forum. I'm not sure how to set a forum on fire, but I will figure out how. There will be no icon hunts. I'm not sure how much clearer we can get and if my word isn't good enough, then I guess it just isn't.

Opinions are fine. But the Old CF was more a congregational rule, whereas the current CF is bishop/elder.

We merged with a small church and the pastor of the smaller church now is in sales rather than full time ministry. He is a member of the congregation but he does not tell us how he thinks the location where he was pastor should run.

there is new leadership here. Input is solicited from time to time, but the Advisors seem willing and able to make the decisions.

the pastor emeritus at our church attends often and it took him a while to release the reigns and allow the next generation lead, he has done that now and it is great to have him around.
Steve--I understand what you are saying. Really. I think you are reading too much into what I am saying. I'm not trying to hold on to the reigns. I am merely ASKING QUESTIONS, STATING OPINIONS, AND EXPRESSING CONCERN of the only people I know to ask. That is all. I am not anti anything, not even suspicious even of the "new pastor" or "new management." I have 3 people in my small congregation besides myself who have been pastors, all with M.Div.'s, one with a Ph.D in preaching and worship. I welcome their input, questions, concerns, suggestions--all the while not suspecting them of trying to wrestle the reigns of control from me or trying to stir the "complaint pot."

meh, heck, I worked hard to get you on my team some years ago because I trust you--you know that. I love you to the bone. thanks for your input. I have complete faith in you. I trust you can give some of us some leeway to just express ourselves. It is a legitimate concern (one that you are addressing well!)

I like it but I do wish that the filioque was kept in it with a little note saying that you do not have to accept the filioque if you don't want to. It just doesn't seem right without the filioque. All well, it's better than having no creed at all. Praise God that we have the Nicene Creed back!

Hi T,

I understand your reservations...I'd probably have the same ones. I'm not entirely sure how to convince people that icon hunts will not be happening...other to assure them that they will NOT. I don't want to get in to that...not only that...I don't even want to have a discussion about the topic. I hated going through the hunts in the past...if it is ever brought back as "official policy" I will quit immediately. Hell, even if it is "unofficial policy" I will quit.

Likewise...no need for weasel words about asking questions, expressing concerns, etc. The point of this thread is ask any question or express any concern that you can think of...

As for this:

And, many of us have returned because we contemplate staying around a while. But we want to understand what we're getting into before we make that committment again.
I find this a most reasonable statement.

Hear darlin!that is good to hear and I trust you--always have. You are a shining star amongst much darkness that exists in power struggles on CF.
good to hear

 You have always been so kind and gracious. Thank you.

hmm, I trust you--really, but she had no business being here if she can't take a few comments and questions--and the least she could have done is apologize. The insinuation that I have no desire to help this site after all I've given of myself was just plain ole not nice

ok, I trust you. It is hard to see that from her "snarky" post.
good!

Once you get to know her, you will love her. She really is awesome. I don't think she meant to insinuate that. I really think it was a misunderstanding. You know how these things can happen when people don't really know each other yet. Once you two get to know each other and I pray you will... I think you both will really like each other. You both are really good and loving and caring Christians.

and as I said, I think a statement of faith is a good thing. The problem is I'd like Tonks to explain what he meant by:
1. the whole "soft" startup--the language there (from my corporate background) brings up images of much more in the way of changes, but we are starting out slowly.
2. the whole using it to move unorthodox posts, threads. This FEELS like a precursor to then moving "people" who are deemed unorthodox when taken with the soft start up comment. That is all--just questions, concerns and comments

Tonks will be better to give an answer to the above points. I'm sure he will if he hasn't yet. I think he may of on.

good to hear.
I've been going around and posting in various areas. It's good to see you too. I miss you and that man you hang out with too!

I think the man that I hang out with would love to hear from you too. Send him a pm and say hi. I'll have to go cruise the forums and see ya in one of them.

Take and God bless Tommy,

This just shows you the 2 divisions here they're trying to unite.

Yes, divisons there are!

Deny it all you want, declare the "other side" blasphemous all you want - it won't go away! Thankfully, words disagreeing with yours are here to stay!

AMEN!
