 You have always been so kind and gracious. Thank you.

Once you get to know her, you will love her. She really is awesome. I don't think she meant to insinuate that. I really think it was a misunderstanding. You know how these things can happen when people don't really know each other yet. Once you two get to know each other and I pray you will... I think you both will really like each other. You both are really good and loving and caring Christians.

Tonks will be better to give an answer to the above points. I'm sure he will if he hasn't yet. I think he may of on.

I think the man that I hang out with would love to hear from you too. Send him a pm and say hi. I'll have to go cruise the forums and see ya in one of them.

Take and God bless Tommy,

Debbie
thanks D'Ann

No statement of faith is going to fix what's wrong with CF unless it is designed to route out this heresy. Be well. I wish you all the best, because God is not here anymore.

If its in re: OBOB...there are FSGs to be followed...which include no posting against Church teachings...

If it's re: another forum, clue me in :)

It's rife throughout CF. But, no. It wasn't just OBOB.

And, I got banned from OBOB for defending the teaching of the Magesterium from a member who was teaching against it. And, she continues to merrily post her heresy whilst I can only watch. But, I'm not a Catholic, so it's not my place to defend their teachings apparently.

It looks like these are the qustions I missed..if there are more...let me know.

and as I said, I think a statement of faith is a good thing. The problem is I'd like Tonks to explain what he meant by:
1. the whole "soft" startup--the language there (from my corporate background) brings up images of much more in the way of changes, but we are starting out slowly.

Sort of. In the past whenever there were major changes the announcement was posted and suddenly everyone had to immediately adjust to the "new normal" be it members, staff, whomever. The intent was to annouce the change, let people mull it over a bit and the begin to move forward. My "soft startup" was directed specifically at the Creed but you are correct that there are more changes coming...which I referenced in an earlier post, I think. There are some internal things that need a little rewickering plus there are a few persistent member complaints that have never really been addressed...so we're going to deal with those too. However, to reiterate, the "soft bit" was really more to emphasize the while the Creed is now in effect we're not demanding that everyone stand and salute smartly. CF had a nasty habit in the past of merely announcing something and then telling members and staff to simply "deal with it..." chaos generally ensued. We're trying to avoid that and to allow for corrections - particularly if staff responds too strictly.

2. the whole using it to move unorthodox posts, threads. This FEELS like a precursor to then moving "people" who are deemed unorthodox when taken with the soft start up comment. That is all--just questions, concerns and comments

Well, to be honest, there will be posts moved to the unorthodox areas if they are contrary to the SoF. We've all said that the "icon hunts" will not be returning and I'm not really what more to say on the point. I'm certainly not going to repeat the assertion over and over and over simply because people don't believe the previous 12 times it has been said.

As for the notion that CF is making a statement that there are some beliefs about Christianity that it does not consider acceptable...I think that would be a fair statement. You may want to ping Ron too as he was intimately involved in this end of the process. Faith icons are by self-identification. Posts must be in line with the SoF. I'm not entirely sure what the problem is...and I really am not going to apologize for the site stating that active promotion of such things as Modalism as "an acceptable interpretation of Christianity" is not allowed.

I also think that some folks are confused as to the intent of the thread...we announce a change and take questions if anyone has them. It really isn't to talk a list of wide and varied "issues" with the new SoF and then begin to walk it back. The SoF is what it is...people can decide on their own if they can deal with it or not. I know that some people think that this is some sort of retrograde move. The fact of the matter is that we can't make everyone happy with every decision that is ever made...trying to is exasperating and - utimately - fruitless.
