I spent 15 years as Adventist....in 2 states, before my exit....they all believed what she wrote was inspired of God.

i don't disagree with the scripture, but I do disagree with your application to Ellen White.

Perhaps it was a misunderstanding. I quoted her regarding things that were written which were common, and not from inspiration.

But I also quoted where she said the articles, books, and Testimonies were.

As you know, I have a number of disagreements with the Adventist church, but I have not heard it taught that everything Ellen White said was inspired.

But she did say her writings in Adventist papers and her books were inspired

As I disagree with your application to scripture so we will agree to disagree. It is God's Word not mine that says Gods' last day Church has the gift of prophecy not me. *Romans 12:6, 1 Corinthians 12:28, 29; 13:1-3, 8; 14:6, and in Ephesians 4:11. *see Revelation 12:17; Revelation 14:12 compare Revelation 19:10. No one has ever made the claim that prophecy only applies to EGW. *Joel 2:28-32

Given the broad nature of her claims if it was published in her lifetime she would say it was inspired. So yes, they would claim that.

However, some things have been published since that she did not oversee that some might debate. She also stated that the testimonies she wrote to people were inspired. And obviously, if she is saying things like "I was shown" etc. in a given work, she is claiming inspiration.

But the articles, the books, etc. she claims they were all inspired. So when Adventists said all that she wrote, they are usually (in my experience) talking about her published writings.

Some of the later stuff they released that are of the nature she mentioned in the other quote I posted, where it was about mundane things, no statements of inspiration, and not published for that purpose, then folks could debate it.

Hi I am just wondering, you call yourself a (SEA) Seventh-day Evangelical Adventist. Is that even a thing or a Church? What actually is that as I have never heard of it before? Just curious

Not really I corrected the what was implied in the question and told the truth by sharing scripture or are you another one that thinks there is no such thing as prophets in God's new testament Church (see post # 83 linked)?

I have only posted scripture. I do not think anyone said all prophets are seers. All prophets however are inspired by Gods' Spirit.

EGW only points everyone to the bible. Let's talk scripture?

My faith is in Gods' Word which is where she points everyone who reads her writings.

She claimed to be a messenger of God. Would never call herself a prophet…but more (work) than a prophet. That statement can be takin the wrong way. God inspires all His covenant people. I’m sure your work for the Lord is filled with His inspiration. Ellen G. Whites claim is a messenger inspired of God. A Seer. I chuckle.

Does that work for you? As I noted, I reference Ellen White with Adventists to establish their position because they will not disagree with her. But I would fully agree no one need to bother with Ellen White at all.

I will tell everyone the same thing that I told you at the beginning of this thread and that is over the question I asked you earlier; is not prophecy a spiritual gift given to the Church? *Romans 12:6, 1 Corinthians 12:28, 29; 13:1-3, 8; 14:6, and in Ephesians 4:11. Actually on this topic having an understanding of the prophecies is one of the distinguishing signs of Gods' true Church just prior to the second coming *see Revelation 12:17; Revelation 14:12 compare Revelation 19:10. What is not biblical here? - Nothing.

I would also add to this that according to the scriptures none of us can know God's Word unless God is our guide and teacher *see John 16:13; John 7:17; John 14:26; 1 John 2:27 and God only gives His Spirit to those who obey him *see Acts of the Apostles 5:29-31. I would also add that all that the writings of EGW has done for me is to point me to Gods Word (scripture) and it is in the Word of God I see and have found Jesus. This was her message. That is the same message that I share here at CF and that is the only standard of what is true and not true is Gods' Word.

My view is that God used her to tell His people that they need to return to God's Word and seek Jesus prayerfully claiming His promises to be our guide and teacher. Only then can we walk in the light even as He is in the light. This is our message that we are to give to the world to prepare a people to meet their God. I believe God's people are in every Church living up to all the knowledge of the scriptures that He has revealed to them *John 10:16, but according to Jesus the house is coming and now is that the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth *John 4:23-24.

Jesus is coming. Its time for all of us to wake up. The call has been made to go out and meet the bridegroom. If the call is being made, how will we find our way when the road is dark and narrow if our lamps go out *Psalms 119:105; Proverbs 6:23? God is calling us all wherever we might be to come out from following man-made teachings and traditions that have led many to break the commandments of God and to return to His Word *Matthew 15:3-9; Revelation 18:1-5. Babylon as fallen *Revelation 14:8. "Fear God therefore and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters *Revelation 14:7.

Jesus is coming as a thief in the night *2 Peter 3:10. The many that were called and not the few that are chosen *Matthew 22:14 will be the ones crying "peace and safety", then sudden destruction comes on them, as travail on a woman with child; and they shall not escape *1 Thessalonians 5:3. Let's all pray we can be His sheep and hear His voice (the Word) and follow Him and not of those who do not hear and follow because they are not His sheep *John 10:26-27. This is the question coming to each and everyone of us. Who so I worship. Who so I believe and follow; God or man?

Many also mocked the prophets and well as Jesus who they persecuted to death. There is nothing new under the sun. Can you imagine the surprise of all these people on judgement day when they realize for the first time that they were not mocking men but actually mocking God? It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God *Hebrews 10:31
