• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

im just afraid that we may be taking the scriptures about, "whosoever may come they will not be cast aside," or "whoever wants to drink from the water--may come freely" or anything like that out of context. I know I quoted those scriptures badly but I cant remember them exactly. So, could we be taking those out of context like the one about blasphemy.

& how we are suppose to read the Bible as a whole--then we see that ALL sins are forgiveable BUT those who say bad things about the Holy Spirit. & when people say Jesus forgives ALL sins, arent they taken the scripture out of context since He forgives all except 1. I know that Ive probably meant some of those thoughts and if so then that applies to me. That scripture also says at the begining something like He will forgive ALL sins except that one and it says that anyone who says A WORD about the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven. I just dont see anyway around it and people are probably just trying to find ways aroudn that scripture because they dont WANT to believe it. I've had a TERRIBLE day today...Im so scared I dont even want to sleep at night.

I give up. I know Ive done it. Ive re-read my posts and people trying to help me, and I know that Ive done this. There is NO proof whatsoever that proves that people who have committed that sin cannot come to God. I wish I could come to God again but I cannot be that lucky. I cant go on wanting something I can never have. I have had intentional thoughts (what the pharasees said)That I may have spoken---especially when I think about the state im in and wonder how God would allow someone to go through that if they were saved or what not. I dont know how Im ever gonna get it out of my mind, but thats better than torturing myself with something ill never have.

I have some of these thoughts because Ive been angry at God for my OCD. Everything isn't OCD and I've consulted pastors & counselors. they don't help & the counselor will not put me on meds because Im too young.
A psychiatrist would be a good place to start now. It really takes therapy to get past OCD, not counseling. It's tough to do without meds, but it's possible with determination.

I got upset with God about my OCD too. But He understands that, as we are human. He created us.

Caty,

I also think a psychiatrist may be able to help you, and it may be a good idea to see one. There is help available.

I have not seen a sin in the bible called unforgivable.

The bible says ALL who call upon the Name of the Lord SHALL be saved.

Jesus said WHOSOEVER will may come and drink freely from the Water of Life.

Jesus said verily verily I say unto you, he that believeth on Me has Everlasting life.

Jesus means what He says

Jesus words shall never pass away.

The scripture cannot be broken.

John 6:37
All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

These promises of Jesus mean what they say.Jesus means what He says.

We do not have to earn salvation

We do not have to get any thoughts or behaviours under control

we can do nothing of ourselves

we do not have to beg

Jesus wants to forgive us and make us righteous and be our Lord and Master

Jesus is Love and Truth

He is full of mercy and compassion

Jesus is Good

We are welcome to Come just as we are

We just have to ask Jesus to have mercy on us and forgive and wash us clean in His blood, to be our Lord and Saviour

Jesus makes us righteous

we can do nothing without Him

Jesus makes all things new

Jesus forgives sin

Jesus gives us strength

Jesus heals us

Jesus makes us grow

We abide in Jesus through prayer and meditating on the bible

Ephesians 4:23
And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

Romans 12:2
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Psalm 9:10
And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

I know the suffering the ocd can cause, but the suffering will not last forever.
One day Jesus will wipe all tears from all eyes.
No one can pluck Jesus sheep from His hand.

he that cometh to Jesus will in no wise be cast out.

whosoever will may come.

all who call upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved.

No exceptions.

I hope you consider going to a doctor and seeking professional treatment.
I really hope you get well soon.

But that "ALL who call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" is taken out of context with the rest of the bible because ALL can be saved except those who commit that sin. Jesus also states that before He talks about the uf-sin. And I know He says they are unforgiven an not unforgiveable but Jesus also says they will never be forgiven. I see NO way around this now, i at least used to think that I had some hope in those scriptures until i realized that we were seperating them apart from the Bible just like the one about the uf-sin.

Caty let me ask you something, do you want to repent of your sins and be saved? Just Yes or No please, nothing else.

Just as a general rule, don’t make any doctrine out of any ONE verse.

Mat 18:16 But if he hear thee not, take with thee one or two more, that at the mouth of two witnesses or three every word may be established.

Satan tried to get Jesus to take one scripture out of context:

Mat 4:6-7 and saith unto him, If thou art the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and, On their hands they shall bear thee up, Lest haply thou dash thy foot against a stone. (7) Jesus said unto him, Again it is written, Thou shalt not make trial of the Lord thy God.

Other things need to be in consideration such as:

The bible wasn’t written in English - much less King James English – so we may not get the original meaning. It is safer to have multiple witnesses.

Word definitions change over time – cool, sick, chick, believe etc…

We are in fact reading copies – (why are there so many “versions”?). Some newer versions have tons of scriptures missing. So which bible is right?

Paul himself was following a scriptural mandate to preach the gospel to all nations however was forbidden by the Holy Sprit to do so (act 16:6). His lesson was to follow the spirit and not try to work scriptural things out in the fleshy mind.

Follow the Spirit of God which never violates His Word.

MostRadicalManEver, I don't understand what you are saying, and it's kinda worrying me because how will I ever know what to believe.

& Yes Robert. I have and do want to repent and be saved. But that doesn't change what I've thought and maybe said and the fact that I have no salvation.

Okay but after the pharisees spoke against the Holy Spirit and then after Jesus warned them did you ever see the pharisees asking for forgiveness after that point?

He told them they couldnt recieve it and just because they didnt doesnt mean that I could have committed that sin and can ask and be turned away. Thats not biblical, the bible NEVER says that--thats human.

HI Caty, I've been away for awhile but still praying for you. I think of you often.

Question - Will there ever be a proof or irrefutable evidence that will provide 100 percent certainty that you have recieved forgiveness from God through Christ or will there always be room for doubt? One more "What if?" to ruminate over.

If there will always be room for doubt, then what do you think you should choose to do in response to that?

Keep in mind that OCD demands absolute certainty and the key to managing it lies in our ability to live with and accept the distressing feelings of uncertainty in regard to our obsessions.

Love you,
Mitzi

I have laways regreted these even If thought them on my own. Does that make a diff?

Absolutely, it shows that your heart is tender towards the things of God even if your OCD tells you otherwise. Caty, you really need to understand the context of the scripture in regards to blasphemey against the Holy Ghost. Its more of a heart issue than anything else.

Can I tell you something else? When Jesus was speaking to the pharisees about blasphemey did Jesus ever actually tell them that they just committed it? NO!

He was warning them that if they continued on with that type of attitued towards the Holy Spirit then they would eventually commit it!
