Sometimes we need to understand the mental maps of others to understand them.Who cares what he thinks
Belief.I'm so confused by what AV is trying to get with this line of questioning.
Belief rules!

If a shrewdness of scientists came on my property, traipsing around and digging potholes for one day (let alone five years), I'd throw them out on their behinds.
Such behavior would be congruent with your belief that science has no value. If a shrewdness of scientists came on my property, traipsing around and digging potholes for one day (let alone five years), I'd throw them out on their behinds.
If that understanding is of more value than the actualSometimes we need to understand the mental maps of others to understand them.

Archeologists are not in the habit of lookingGood thing that it's not your property, or anyone's property, they found the fossils in.
Also, archeologists (not SCIENTISTS, as you so demonize anyone who uses science as) have to ask for permission to investigate anything on private property. Public property, it's fair game.
D'oh.Archeologists are not in the habit of looking
for fossils. Those would e paleontologists.
Using the universal "no value" was an error on my part. It may have been prompted by my failure to notice anything positive about science in any of your comments as opposed to your quick rebuttals, mostly w/o any information of your reasoning other than your beliefs. Is that what you think I think?
Hint:
1. Bible says x, Science says x = go with x
2. Bible says x, Science says y = go with x
3. Bible says x, Science says ø = go with x
4. Bible says ø, Science says x = go with x
5. Bible says ø, Science says ø = free to speculate on your own
Prime Directive: Under no circumstances whatsoever is the Bible to be contradicted.
If I think science has no value, what's #4 up there say?
What is D'oh?

It is the noise Homer Simpson makes when something stupid, unlucky or bad happens to him.
I stopped right here.
I'm looking for a number.
Not two paragraphs of baloney.
Why don't you go read their paper (or Shubin's book) if you want to know?
Did YOU read them?
*I* wasn't asking the question, you were. And I have read Shubin's book. It's on my book pile somewhere. As best I recall, it took them more than one attempt to fink Tiqtaalik (sp). What I don't remember if that is more than one expedition, more than one field site, more than one day. That's why I suggest reading the book (or at least the chapter or two required, the rest is full of scary ideas about how we are all still fish.)
