Hi Everyone.
Heres the latest as of 8:23 PM. October 23. The neurologist was in to
see mom tonight. She went over what they found on the test this
morning. There are two main arteries that supply blood to the brain in
the rear of our necks. Moms are completely shut off and are not
supplying blood. However, when you are still in the womb, there are two
paths that are temporarily made between our main front arteries and the
brain to supply blood until the back arteries are mature enough to take
over. Usually, these temporary arteries stop supplying blood when the
back arteries take over. Mom's never went away and developed into
permanent blood suppliers to the brain. She does not need the rear
arteries on the back of her neck. God gave mom these while she was
still in the womb. This condition had nothing to do with the stroke,
but caused all the confusion with the MRI. The MRI showed something
strange with the main rear arteries and the test today was necessary to
affirm what was partially revealled on the MRI.
The stroke was caused by a small amount of plaque that travelled to
moms brain. The hospital will do the TEE tomorrow to try to find out
where the plaque came from. This will give a good picture of the back
of Mom's heart. If the test tomorrow shows that there is no threat of
more plaque flow, mom may be released with a script for outpatient
speech therapy (In Ohio) very soon. Maybe tomorrow. Feel comfortable
with the fact that mom is being well taken care of and is very happy
with the care she is recieving in the hospital. We will follow up
tomorrow with the results of the TEE.
