I thought that federal emergency funding was capped in the millions?Obama declared 13 national emergencies. One was because of an outbreak of the flu. Another of his "national" emergencies dealt with one city only--Flint, Michigan.
It doesn't sound like much of a precedent being broken in President Trumps case.
I don't know where you get the idea that Trump has just now thought of it as an emergency. He's talked about it as one of his major concerns for several years now....what's even funnier is how two years into President Trumps administration how suddenly the border has become "an emergency".
Getting the economy moving again was indeed a greater emergency and an easier fix as well. But even if it were not - the congress is not the one who might be declaring an emergency. The President is and it is his actions we are talking about....I guess getting huge tax cuts for President Trump and his friends was a "greater emergency" then the border huh?
Yes it was and I didn't say otherwise.and apparently it was used by some Republican Presidents as well, what's your point?
Since you are wondering, here is the pertinent scripture....wasn't she put in her position by God? I thought we weren't supposed to talk about one of the Lords anointed like that? tulc(is just wondering)

You know full well the point. It is just as I said in my post. The Dems are now citing "dangerous precedent" because they hate Trump and did no such thing when Obama and Clinton declared national emergencies many times during their terms. You must have missed it when you read my post.
"Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God. Therefore whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves. For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same; for it is a minister of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a minister of God, an avenger who brings wrath on the one who practices evil. Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of wrath, but also for conscience’ sake. For because of this you also pay taxes, for rulers are servants of God, devoting themselves to this very thing. Render to all what is due them: tax to whom tax is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor." Romans 13:1-7
Unlike the police - Pelosi is not an authority over me. Nor is she my ruler. She is the representative of her particular district in Washington obligated to consider and vote on proposed laws.
Once a law is voted into existence by a majority of our representatives we are generally obligated to obey the authorities who will be in charge of it's enforcement.
I have not resisted authority and I am under subjection to it. Do you know of some place where I have done otherwise?
"“You shall not curse God, nor curse a ruler of your people." Exodus 22:28
I am not under the law given to Israel by God and Moses.
Even if I was - I remind you - Nancy Pelosi is not the ruler of my people.
Again I remind you and tulc - the two chambers of congress are not the ones considering declaring an emergency. That's right: for two of the three unfortunate years of his presidency, he had a majority of Republicans in both chambers of Congress. Mysteriously, though, the border only became an """emergency""" after his party lost the House and a Democratic majority was seated. Funny how that works.
That's a matter of opinion. Tell that to the little girls being raped by coyotes who are bring them through our porous border or the the victims of illicit drugs or to the victims of the like of MS-13.Dems are citing dangerous precedent because an emergency was declared where one does not exist.
Read the related scriptures and do as you will.I only respect people who have earned my respect, whether they're (supposedly) leaders of my country or average people. Donny has not earned my respect.
Actually Trump sought wall funding in the bill Pelosi is sending him for signing.No...but she does seem to over rule President Trump.
Nor did I say otherwise.tulc(might point out: Presidents aren't rulers either)
Ahhh! Another of those Republican myths:The El Chapo $14B should be a good start.
So...much like our President El Chapo isn't really a billionaire, he just plays one on tv.But the defense claimed the government’s narrative of a flood of cash fueling Guzman’s conspicuous consumption was wildly exaggerated. In his closing argument, defense attorney Jeffrey Lichtman cited testimony from another cooperator who said that when Guzman was on the run as one of Mexico’s most wanted about 10 years ago, he was $20 million in debt and could barely pay the underlings protecting him in one of his mountainside hideouts.
“The dude had no money,” Lichtman told the jury.
Lichtman insisted in a phone interview Thursday that the idea that the 61-year-old Guzman is a billionaire is bogus.
The $14 billon “is a fantasy figure,” he said. “It’s fantasy not only on how it was reached, but on how they hope to collect on it.”
Again I remind you and tulc - the two chambers of congress are not the ones considering declaring an emergency.
Nor is the presidency responsible for submitting spending bills for congress to sign. It works the other way around.
By the way - where do you get the idea that the thing Trump has talked about constantly for the last several years has not been considered an emergency by him?
That's a matter of opinion. Tell that to the little girls being raped by coyotes who are bring them through our porous border or the the victims of illicit drugs or to the victims of the like of MS-13.
Read the related scriptures and do as you will.
She compromised, he caved. But I understand the need to pretend that the "master deal maker" couldn't possibly be that bad at making deals.Actually Trump sought wall funding in the bill Pelosi is sending him for signing.
She said previously that she would give nothing for a wall if they opened the government. She caved.
Didn't say you had. It's just nice to know all those "have to obey the ruler" Scriptures don't apply to us.Nor did I say otherwise.
The definition of emergency answers that question. Trump himself has made the argument that it really isn't an Emergency....By the way - where do you get the idea that the thing Trump has talked about constantly for the last several years has not been considered an emergency by him?
She behaved like a responsible representative and negotiated with the Republicans. I've never liked Pelosi but in this case I am impressed. She said previously that she would give nothing for a wall if they opened the government. She caved.

He gave the dems 2 years to grasp the situation but they just don't seem to have the interest in learning........what's even funnier is how two years into President Trumps administration how suddenly the border has become "an emergency". I guess getting huge tax cuts for President Trump and his friends was a "greater emergency" then the border huh?
@tulc if you really believed what you just posted nobody would ever hear from you again on this site........wasn't she put in her position by God? I thought we weren't supposed to talk about one of the Lords anointed like that?
