absolutely.. In Spirit and in truth.. I dance before the Lord in praise at home.. Or where ever I want too actually.. People think I am strange any way why not give them a reason to talk lol.. I worship Him in His very presence.. (spirit) I live in His presence. as for (Truth) I renew my mind with His scripture and pray as I ask God to transform me into who He created me to be.. I walk in faith of His word and act on what He tells me to act on for I am led of the Spirit.. You?

I gave up believing that hearing a preacher explain the faith was the centre of worship.

Some preachers I've heard, with my own ears in their own building, did a good job and tried to explain the passage they chose for their sermon. Some were not so successful at explaining passages but were good hearted decent people. Some preached to raise the level of giving, and I guess the debts of the incorporated entity for that congregation needed higher giving. Some asked for money as they bought very expensive cars for the church. It could be called 'listening to the doctrines of men' I guess.

Because this is so much more humble than owning a nice car:

That only the Catholic Church had the truth.
That the bread and wine becomes the body and blood of Christ.
That baptism in water saves.
That baptism of infants was effective.
That the Church selected the books to include in the Bible.
That the books erroneously called Apocrypha should not be in the Bible.
That liturgy is bad.
That ornate church buildings are bad.
That a person cannot possibly be converted and remain Catholic.
That there will not be a rapture.
That non-charismatic churches are dead.
That the Book of Revelation cannot be understood.
That the Church is the New Israel.
That there will be no millennium.

I offer these corrections of the list from the quote but note that the things listed are true in my opinion. Thus I have not given them up :)
  • That the Catholic Church has the fullness of the truth revealed by God to humankind.
  • That the bread and wine becomes the body and blood of Christ.
  • That in the ordinary course of events baptism in water regenerates.
  • That baptism of infants is effective.
  • That the Church canonised the books of the Bible.
  • That the books erroneously called Apocrypha by some are in fact canonical and ought to be included in all copies of the Bible because they are inspired by God.
  • That divine liturgy is a blessing from God given to the church by the apostles.
  • That the Church is the Israel of God.

Hail LittleLambofJesus! ;)

I was careful about capitalisation in my post. Thus the list is
  • That the Catholic Church has the fullness of the truth revealed by God to humankind.
  • That the bread and wine becomes the body and blood of Christ.
  • That in the ordinary course of events baptism in water regenerates.
  • That baptism of infants is effective.

  • That divine liturgy is is a blessing from God given to the church by the apostles.
  • That the Church is the Israel of God.
As the scripture says, and as we all strive to receive ... Great blessings belong to those who don't listen to evil advice, who don't live like sinners, and who don't join those who make fun of God.

Amen.

Whatever could you possibly mean? I have been a Christian pilgrim for 41 years. I have aggregated over time a variety of beliefs which I now eschew. Can anyone honestly claim they have never tossed out something they once held dear, (unless they began their pilgrimage quite recently)?

That's a fair answer. However, I and others have noted that some of the points are rejections of Catholic ideas while others are associated with one Protestant church or another. Usually, a person does not believe in contrary or conflicting religious principles at once, and they usually get their earlier beliefs from frequenting some particular church. But I suppose you might have believed some of those at one time in your earlier life and others at another time.

- there is only a post-tribulation rapture
- the entire church will be taken in the pre-tribulation rapture (shortly after I became a pre-trib believer)
- the dead are awake (in spirit)
- christians go to heaven immediately after death
- souls are tormented for eternity in the lake of fire
- Yehovah (God) and Allah (false god) are the same
- God's grace could be earned
- No good people are damned

I let all things be foolishness to me except Christ. For Christ is a living being and He speaks to His Children in many ways and through who ever He deems. Even the wicked can minister to a child of the King. A song and a Movie also can minister. But make sure one tests the spirit to see if indeed it is from God. For we only follow one voice and it is the voice of truth and Love of our Lord Jesus. Men may try to manipulate you lie to you deman of you.. Only one voice I follow.. The soft quiet one.. My Lord and savior Jesus Christ. So even in prostestant churchs there are grave error.. This is why I look to Christ and Him alone..

To use the words of our Lord, "Have you not read what God hath said?"

It is sad to see so many people who have moved away from the plain reading of scripture, away from the truth of God's word...I think it would do many of you well to go back to the 22nd chapter of 2 Kings... and heed the warning put forth for not obeying the word of God...

"Great is the Lord’s anger that burns against us because those who have gone before us have not obeyed the words of this book; they have not acted in accordance with all that is written there concerning us.”
