If you believe that the universe has always been running under the same set of laws, I challenge you to describe to me a hypothetical planet in existence today where people routinely live to be 600-900 years old, and tell me how they live that long under current conditions.

Routinely? That sort of age wasn't even routine in the hypothetical planet described in the bible.

You might also like to look at the planets where they believe Hinduism, Islam and Jainism (Shantinatha at 70,000 years beats your young pups hands down). You could also go back to Ancient Greece, China, Persia, Rome and Sumer.

Really, there's nothing particularly special about the claims made in Genesis.

In the case of Adam and Eve they had duel circulatory systems which allowed them to partake of the energies of "the tree of life". After the fall they lost the use of the tree, but even still their superior genetics allowed them to live much longer than average. Their offspring lived longer as well, there are Sumerian kings lists that have people that lived to be very old.

The oldest tree was discovered in 2014, its 9,000 years old. There are Aspen Groves that could be as much as 100,000 years old.

If I could add another thought from another viewpoint: If I was writing Genesis, with the intention of putting the whole story over on you, why would I arbitrarily pick ages that long knowing it would just be one more thing questioned. That wouldn’t make sense… the only thing that makes sense is that it is true.

Genesis is a mixture of truth, exaggeration, speculation and ignorance. It was rewritten when the Israelites nationalist pride was crushed and they found themselves in captivity once again.

If you really were being honest it would be more sensible to conclude that the stories in Genesis aren't true, rather than to imagine the fabric of the universe had some vague unspecified properties that have radically changed in the last few thousand years.

Let's leave the Bible, God, and miracles out of this thread (respectfully speaking) and concentrate on what you guys are experts at: science alone.
