Seriously though, you folks should do more than just stare at the same words in your bibles. There is a great story written 'between the lines'. :)

That is part of the problem.

The churches have a totally different story from Genesis than is written without making up stuff between the lines:

HTML:
1) It is clear that the Universe DID have a beginning, 13.9 billion years ago.
(Gen 1:1)

2) The hot spinning molten matter that was to coalesce into the planet Earth was without form:
http://kofh2u.tripod.com/id132.html

3) There were seven long Cosmic "days" since that Big Bang, which we call the seven cosmic/geological Eras.

4) A Cosmic Dark Age did precede that advent of let there be light to flood the cosmos.
(Gen 1:3-5)

5) There was one ocean, once, where all the waters had been collected together.
(Gen 1:9)

6) Pangea/Rodinia did actually confirm that the dry land appeared surrounded totally by water.
(Gen 1:10)
http://kofh2u.tripod.com/id123.html

7) The Plant kingdom did establish itself before the Animal kingdom.
(Gen 1:11)

http://kofh2u.tripod.com/id18.html

8) The Sun and the Moon and all the Stars were "MADE," given authority over circadian Earth Time as soon as life appeared:
http://kofh2u.tripod.com/id126.html

9) Man WAS the last step in the evolution of Dominant Life on earth.
(Gen 1:27)
http://kofh2u.tripod.com/genesispic/sethNoah.jpg

10) Man HAS managed to form a mental IMAGE of "Father Nature" by understanding of His Laws and creation.
http://kofh2u.tripod.com/id21.html

11) Gen 5:2 says god called them, the man and his wife, the "Adamites," a species:

Gen 5:2 Male and female created he THEM; and blessed THEM, and called THEIR name Adam, (a species), in the day when THEY were created.
http://kofh2u.tripod.com/id31.html

12) The 22 names in the genealogy compare directly with the 22 extinct species in the ascent to Modern man.

I don't think most churches spend a lot of time on the physical history of the earth and universe as portrayed in Genesis. The problem is that they don't pay enough attention to the story of Adam and Eve.

And the best thing about 'between the lines' is you can make it up as you go along, that sounds like the religion for me, count me in.
oldwiseguy you have made a convert, what shall we call ourselves? Liners or Tweeners?

Both. You have to keep the 'lines' or you have nothing to read 'between'. ;)

There is. But if we have to guess what the lines mean, then what's written between them is so soft it just runs away like runny cheese.

Before I sign up completely can you give me an example of the things we can read between the lines?
How about "turn the other cheek" actually means "turn around and grab the nearest weapon to beat the sh*t out of the [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] who dared to slap you"?
Or "Thou shalt not bear false witness" could mean "thou shalt not bear false witness unless......(insert applicable reason here)"
Perhaps "Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you" actually means "you cannot eat x, y and z - they shall be an abomination unto you"

Sure. The word 'gave' (Eve 'gave' the fruit to Adam) is better rendered 'put upon' (actual Hebrew translation), meaning that she somehow talked, pleaded, threatened, cajoled, or somehow verbally convinced Adam to share in her transgression. God said to Adam, "Because you have hearkened to the voice of your wife......" This 'between the lines' interpretation gives a much clearer account of what happened.

Also, because put upon is clearly a better rendering reveals that most of the early translators were probably married and didn't want to sleep on the couch. :D
