My New End Times Chronology:
(A Chronology in Honor of both:

Oh, and this End Times Chronology is not meant to be something that is 100% fact (like the teaching of Soteriology). It may not be precise in it's arrangement on everything. However, this chronology is based on other men of God's study on the End Times on what will happen in the future before Christ returns. I have prayed and re-arranged my list many times based on the light of what Scripture says over the years. I can only pray that others will find my End Times Chronology and comments edifying to them in following and loving our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Rapture:

Description of the Rapture:

• 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

• 1 Corinthians 15:51-53

Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

The Dead in Christ Are Taken From Abraham's Bosom By the Rapture:
(Both the Old Testament Saints and Church Age Saints in Abraham's Bosom Are Called to Rise To Meet the Lord in the Air. For in the Rapture: The Dead in Christ Shall Rise First):

For... I will free your prisoners from the waterless pit. And with the trump of God... the dead in Christ shall rise first:

Commentary - Zechariah 9:11 and Thessalonians 4:16

Zechariah 9:11 is a prophetic Old Testament passage about the taking up of the saints from Abraham's bosom.

What is Abraham's Bosom?

Abraham's bosom (which is also known as Paradise) is described in Luke 16:19-31. It is a real place of comfort within the spirit realm; A temporary paradise where the saint's soul and spiritual body resides consciously to be with the Lord when their physical body dies (Genesis 3:19) (Ecclesiastes 12:7) (Luke 16:22). This paradise is located within the realm of the dead below the Earth (Which is also known as Sheol or Hades) which is separated by a great gulf from the fiery place of punishment known as "Torments" or what is commonly known as "Hell" (Luke 16:26) (Luke 16:23). It will be a place where the saint will be comforted (Luke 16:25). But, why is Abraham's bosom also called Paradise? Well, on the day of Christ's sacrifice, he had told the thief on the cross that: "This day, you shall be with me in Paradise" (Luke 23:43). But yet, Scripture tells us that when Christ died, he was in the heart of the Earth for three days and three nights, though (Matthew 12:40). So this leads us to conclude that during Christ's three days within the grave before His resurrection, He was with the thief in Abraham's bosom which is located in the heart (or the center) of the Earth.

Does Abraham's Bosom Still Exist Within the Church Age Today?

The real life story (or event) told by Jesus within Luke 16:19-31 took place during the time of Moses (Luke 16:29). However, the important question that must be asked is: Does Abraham's Bosom still exist today, though?

Well, yes, I believe according to the plain reading of Scripture that Abraham's bosom still exists today within our present church age. For all true saints who die in Christ right now will go to be with the Lord down in Abraham's bosom and then later they will be taken up into Heaven when the Rapture occurs. For how else will the dead in Christ rise first? See 1 Thessalonians 4:16. Do the dead in Christ rise to go to Heaven and then come back down somewhere temporarily to be risen again at the Rapture? Do they rise in Christ twice spiritually? If so, where is the verse that explains this?

In fact, many Christians today who are well versed in studying the Scriptures believe they go straight to Heaven; This is a common misconception because they interpret the ascension of Christ mentioned in Ephesians 4:8 as the time of when the saints in Abraham's bosom are being taken to Heaven.

Ephesians 4:8 - "When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive."

In other words, based on this passage, most Christians believe that Christ led those saints who were in captivity in Abraham's bosom captive up into Heaven when Christ ascended. However, is this what Ephesians 4:8 is talking about, though?

No, actually it is actually talking about how when Christ ascended, He bound the enemy or the powers of darkness. How so? Well, our first clue to this fact is to look at the parallel reference of this passage located in Judges chapter five.

Judges 5:12 - "Awake, awake, Deborah: awake, awake, utter a song: arise, Barak, and lead your captives captive, you son of Abinoam."

Now, without boring you with all the details, to make a long story short, if you were to read Judges chapter 5, you would find out that Barak was leading his enemies captive and not his friends. To put it to you another way, the moment a true Christian is born again and then dedicates their life to Christ, they are then no longer Christ's enemy. For those in Abraham's bosom are God's elect or chosen who had put their trust in God to redeem them of their sins (See Luke 16:19-31).

As a matter of fact, Gill's Exposition of the Bible says this...
"He led captivity captive; which is expressive of Christ's conquests and triumph over sin, Satan, the world, death, and the grave; and indeed, every spiritual enemy of his and his people, especially the devil, who leads men captive at his will, and is therefore called captivity, and his principalities and powers, whom Christ has spoiled and triumphed over;"And 2nd Timothy says this...

2 Timothy 2:26 - "And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will. For when Christ had raised from the dead he put all things including the principalities and powers of darkness under his feet."

Therefore, the word "captivity" is a reference to Satan leading people captive to his will and lets us know the true context or meaning behind Ephesians 4:8.

For when Christ had risen from the dead, He put all things including the principalities and powers of darkness under his feet.

Ephesians 1:20-23 "Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all."

Those Who Are Alive in Christ on the Earth Are Then Raptured:
(The Church Age Saints Are Called to Rise To Meet the Lord in the Air. This is Similar to the Translation of Enoch whereby He did Not Die):

• 1 Thessalonians 4:17

Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air.

Clues Concerning the Rapture:

• John 14:3

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

• Matthew 25:10

And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

We are taught to look for that blessed hope and appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:

• Titus 2:13

"Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;"

Promise of the Rapture:
(A Deliverance of the Wrath to Come):

• 1 Thessalonians 1:10

"And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come."

• 1 Thessalonians 5:9

"For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,"

The Rapture is a New Mystery Revealed:

• 1 Corinthians 15:51

"Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,"

We are told to pray so that we may escape all these things mentioned within the Tribulation:

• Luke 21:36

"Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man."

What things shall we escape if we pray?

• Luke 21:10

"Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom"

• Revelation 6:4

"...and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another..."

• Luke 21:11

"And great earthquakes..."

• Revelation 6:12

"...and, lo, there was a great earthquake;"

• Luke 21:11

"...and famines..."

• Revelation 6:5-6

"And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand. And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine."

Jesus is coming at a time you think not:

• Luke 12:40

"Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not."

Note: It is true that the majority of this chapter is dealing with the middle of the Tribulation. Those believers who live during the middle of the tribulation are told to look up for their redemption draws near. However, Jesus also commands us in Luke 21:36 to pray so we can escape all the things mentioned in Luke 21:10-11 (Which would include the events of the first half and middle of the tribulation mentioned in Revelation 6). Luke 12:40 plays off Luke 21:36 in that it is speaking to us believers today who have not seen the second seal yet (war) and famine (third seal) which is mentioned in Luke 21:10-11. Yes, Luke 12, and Luke 21 are different chapters but both are describing the Middle of the Tribulation, and we are given admonishments in Luke 12, and Luke 21. Luke 21 says we are to pray to escape all these things. Luke 12 says that we are to watch because our Lord Jesus will come in a time we think not. So if you believe Jesus is coming at a later time like in the middle of the tribulation or the end of it, you are thinking that He is coming in a specific hour or time. Jesus is telling us He will come in a time we think not. So be ready for the fact that He could come any time. In fact, even death can take us by surprise. So always be ready for the Lord. Live for the Lord Jesus like it is your last day. Granted, this is easier said than done, but we must pray and seek the Lord's help with every fiber of our being to make this happen. Be ready. He comes in an hour ye think not.

The Wedding Call: - Watch for Jesus, for ye not the day or the hour in the Bridegroom comes for His bride:

• Matthew 25:13

"Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh."

This is an extremely important verse. The whole Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins is focused on being ready, having oil in your lamps (the Holy Spirit) by sowing to the Spirit (Galatians 6:8-9) and watching (looking) for Jesus to come for you at any moment or hour. These are faithful believers (virgins) being called to the wedding to the Lord Jesus Christ (i.e., the Rapture). Others were faithful (virgins) but they did not have the oil (Holly Spirit) in them. We have to truly make sure God abides in us and be ready for His return in order to be caught up with the Lord Jesus Christ (Who will come at a time that nobody knows). We do not want to miss out on us being married or united o Christ, which will only happen if we are Raptured.

Another missed point of this verse is that it centers on a wedding involving the Parable. So the Rapture is a wedding. However, in Luke 12:36, it talks about the Lord will return AFTER the wedding and when He knocks, these remaining believers must be ready and willing to open the door for Jesus. Meaning, He is coming a second time to gather believers and will gather His elect by angels. The Rapture is never described as angels gathering us. Neither is this second gathering of believers ever described like the event described by Paul in 1 Thessalonians 4 and 1 Corinthians 15.

Anti-Christ Makes A Peaceful Covenant With Israel & Other Nations for 7 Years:

"By peace he shall destroy many," and "he shall come in peaceably and obtain the kingdom by flatteries"

And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week

Anti-Christ Claims to Be God in the Jewish Temple:

Anti-Christ Becomes Embittered by his Naval Defeat and Turns His Rage Against the Jews:
(Which is the result of Israel and Rome breaking their Covenant with him over his claim to godhood in the temple):

Antichrist Dies and Comes Back to Life as the Beast:

And the... ten kings who have not yet received royal power... are to receive authority as kings for one hour, together with the beast. These are of one mind, and they hand over their power and authority to the beast.

The... beast and his ten horns all hate the prostitute... and they will cause her to be laid waste and will strip her bare. They will eat her flesh, and burn her up with fire.

After all this I saw another angel come down from heaven with great authority, and the earth grew bright with his splendor. He gave a mighty shout:

“Babylon is fallen—that great city is fallen!

She has become a home for demons.

She is a hideout for every foul spirit,

a hideout for every foul vulture

and every foul and dreadful animal.

For all the nations have fallen

because of the wine of her passionate immorality.

The kings of the world have committed adultery with her.

Because of her desires for extravagant luxury,

the merchants of the world have grown rich.”

Then I heard another voice calling from heaven,

“Come away from her, my people.

Do not take part in her sins,

or you will be punished with her.

For her sins are piled as high as heaven,

and God remembers her evil deeds.

Do to her as she has done to others.

Double her penalty for all her evil deeds.

She brewed a cup of terror for others,

O Babylon, you great city!

In a single moment

God’s judgment came on you.”

The merchants of the world will weep and mourn for her, for there is no one left to buy their goods. She bought great quantities of gold, silver, jewels, and pearls; fine linen, purple, silk, and scarlet cloth; things made of fragrant thyine wood, ivory goods, and objects made of expensive wood; and bronze, iron, and marble. Cinnamon, spice, incense, myrrh, frankincense, wine, oil, fine flour, wheat, cattle and sheep, horses and chariots, and slaves, that is, human souls.

The fruits which your soul lusted after have been lost to you, and all things that were dainty and sumptuous have perished from you, and you will find them no more at all. The merchants who became wealthy by selling her these things will stand at a distance, terrified by her great torment. They will weep and cry out,

“How terrible, how terrible for that great city!

She was clothed in finest purple and scarlet linens,

decked out with gold and precious stones and pearls!

For in a single hour all this wealth has been laid waste.”

And all shipmasters and seafaring men, sailors and all whose trade is on the sea, stood far off. They will cry out as they watch the smoke ascend, and they will say,

“Where is there another city as great as this?” Then they threw dust on their heads and shouted while crying and mourning:

"How terrible, how terrible it is for the great city, where all who had ships at sea became rich from her wealth, because it has been destroyed in a single hour!"

The Third Seal:

End Times Commentary 1:

The 70th Week (or Last Week) of Daniel:

The 70th week of Daniel is the last seven years before Christ returns, and this world is purified by fire and Christ sets up the Millennial Kingdom. We are currently in the "Age of Grace" between week 69 and week 70.

Side Note 1:

The "Abomination of Desolations" spoken in Daniel 9:27 is something unholy that the Antichrist will do in the Jewish temple as a part of his seizing control of the temple and stopping the daily sacrifices. This then leads to the enforcement of the Mark of the beast where many believers will die.

Side Note 2:

The first half of the Tribulation is 3 and a half years, and the second half of the Tribulation is 3 and a half years. The section known as the "Day of the Lord" is merely enlarged to show the importance of the event.

Question:

I understand how they came up with the 483 years in Daniel 9, but how do we know from scripture that the 69 weeks is supposed to mean 69 weeks of seven years? Why do they do this or are they just figuring this backwards and then saying well it must have meant years and not weeks?

Answer:

One year for one day is a common substitution in prophecy:

"For forty years -- one year for each of the forty days you explored the land -- you will suffer for your sins and know what it is like to have me against you'" (Numbers 14:34).

"And when you have completed them, lie again on your right side; then you shall bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days. I have laid on you a day for each year" (Ezekiel 4:6).

In addition, God issued commands for sabbatical years, which He treated as sets of seven years or "weeks." "And you shall count seven sabbaths of years for yourself, seven times seven years; and the time of the seven sabbaths of years shall be to you forty-nine years" (Leviticus 25:8).

That he did not mean a literal 70 weeks can be determined by the context. Seven weeks were assigned to the rebuilding of Jerusalem. That was an impossibly short period of time. The walls alone, though done in record time took 52 days by themselves (Nehemiah 6:15); thus, we know that the time given in this prophecy represents another scale. Since God used the scale of 1 day equals 1 year in the past, it was a reasonable substitution and one that fits all events.

Interestingly, in the Hebrew it literally says that God appointed seventy sevens. The time scale isn't actually mentioned, but since "sevens" is also the word for a week, it is translated as such. A bit later in Daniel 10:2, Daniel mentions a three week period, but to distinguish it from the weeks he just mentioned in Daniel 9, he called it "weeks of days" in the Hebrew. This also is a clue that the weeks in Daniel 9 were weeks of another time period.

Also, Christ dies, and the temple is destroyed also within the gap of time that is not accounted for within the 70 weeks, as well. The text is actually saying that things are happening within the gap of the 69th week, and the 70th week.

End Times Commentary 4:

When Does the Day of the Lord or the Day of Wrath Begin?

We know that the Day of the Lord = the Day of Wrath.

• Zephaniah 1:14-15

"The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly. That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness,"

The Day of the Lord does not come at the sixth seal because we know that Joel talks about the sun, the blood moon are signs that come BEFORE the Day of the Lord.

• Joel 2:31

"The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come."

Why is this important? Because the sixth seal is marked by the sun going dark, and the moon turning to blood.

• Revelation 6:12

"And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;"

Yet, the Day of the Lord is marked with signs BEFORE of the sun going dark, and the moon turning to blood.

• Joel 2:31

The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.

Conclusion:

This means that those who cry out at the sixth seal that the "Great Day of His Wrath has come" are merely talking about it in a future sense (and how it is now about to arrive). So the Wrath begins at the breaking of the 1st Trumpet, when God pours out the major judgments that effect the world in a huge way.

End Times Commentary #5:

Figuring out the Timing of the Gathering:
Comparing Revelation 19 and the Olivet Discourse:

I am led to believe that the Olivet Discourse verses on the Son of Man's coming and His gathering of His elect by angels is a Mid Tribulation event and it is not the Post-Trib call that we see in Revelation 19. Why? The details and the order of the events.

#1. Revelation 19 talks about how the bride has made herself ready up in heaven already (Revelation 19:7).
#2. Revelation 19 describes how the armies followed Jesus (Revelation 19:14).
#3. Revelation 19 describes how the angel calls the fowls in the heaven (eagles or believers) to the supper of the Lamb (the battle of Armageddon).
#4. Revelation 19 mentions nothing about a gathering up of the Elect.
#5. The Olivet Discourse verses appear to line up best with the Middle of the Tribulation with the following of the sixth seal in Revelation and not with Christ's 2nd coming.
#6. In the Olivet Discourse: The Elect are gathered up by angels AFTER the Son of Man is coming. Yet, in Revelation, the Elect are in Heaven and they made themselves ready there and FOLLOWED Jesus into the battle down to Earth.
#7. So if there was some kind of gathering up of the Elect by angels in Revelation 19, it would have had to been BEFORE. Yet, in the Olivet Discourse, the gathering of the Elect happens AFTER the coming of Jesus.

Conclusion:

They are not the same event.

Why it is confusing is that folks automatically assume that because Jesus is coming, that He must be coming to destroy the wicked. But this time, Christ's coming is for the rest of His elect. Like in the Rapture, he descends from Heaven to meet His bride in the air. The only difference here is that the wicked will see Him coming this time. But He is not coming for them just yet, but He is coming for His Elect via by the gathering of His angels.
