  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

God is an idea that makes the idea of death more bearable. Science is a system of assessing the natural world and coming to conclusions about it's behavior. No, it isn't metaphysics, which is solidly in the realm of philosophy. Science serves a different function than to prove religion right or wrong but it yields enough information for people to make that decision on their own.

Yes but science is neither able to prove or disprove God’s existence and many scientists have actually concluded that intelligent design is more probable than the idea that everything necessary for life on earth just happened by sheer chance.

Well they're not even close to perfect. People die constantly, have failing organs or limbs or a myriad of other problems. In fact, it's kind of shocking we survive at all, sometimes.

Humans in our present form, Homo Sapiens, appeared around 200,000 years ago but our genetic ancestors go back much further and through many generations of successful adaptive change, we began to gain the qualities of our species. The internet has some pretty solid information regarding the finer details of the process if you're curious.

We have zero evidence of the adaptive change which is why they still call it the “missing link”.

Why would it do that? There's no evidence to suggest that there is life beyond death.
Charon says otherwise.

And that party they're having in Valhalla ... well ... they're probably LOLing right now.

I don't really know.

Let's go with 1000.That's a good question.

I don't know.

But my guess is YES, they are still falling today.

And why did they fall?

For someone so sure my deities are fallen angels, you don't seem to know much about them.
???

You lost me on that one, chief.

Am I supposed to be a Who's Who of Angelology?

They're fallen -- what's more to say about it?

Some went and visited Manson in prison just to pick his brain.

I didn't.

I don't think it's expecting too much to know something about them when you're making accusations that like.

They're fallen -- what's more to say about it?

I usually hear it's because they rebel against God.

What point are you trying to make here?

That you're in to polytheism?

That's your call.

But what do you want me to do? agree with you?

Ain't gonna happen.

And I find it interesting that someone who is a polytheist would also cater to science over the KJB.

It's pretty coincidental that none of your Pantheon believes science is wrong.

UNLESS ...

Your Pantheon consists solely of the Muses.

In which case I then understand.

Are you willing to name any of these deities you believe exists?

You said my deities are just fallen angels. I need to know more to evaluate that.
I'd also want to know why so many entities with confirmed and comprehensive knowledge of God's existence would continue to choose to rebel against him knowing the inevitable consequences.

But what do you want me to do? agree with you?

You are under no obligation to accept polytheism.

And I find it interesting that someone who is a polytheist would also cater to science over the KJB.

We're encouraged to learn the science so we can understand how the natural world works. That's what we need to know to help us understand our place in it and to take care of it.

Are you willing to name any of these deities you believe exists?

I'm focused more on Brigid, Cerridwen, Cernunnos, and The Morrigan.

There is no such command to be found,
it simply does not exist.

"Thou shall not murder."exists.

Murder is taking of innocent life.

Killing is taking of any life, sometimes permitted or obligatory.

Talmud, tells "If someone comes to kill you,
you must stand up and kill him first."

In defence it is permitted. Exodus 22:2

But the concern stays the same regarding the loss of civilian lives within a war situation. The term ‘collateral damage’ has been taken in as an acceptable part of conflict. It’s not and it never will be by my measure. Neither is the way we treat innocent animals that may keep us alive in difficult times that we treat with such contempt in our want ridden desires of a armchair ‘feed me’ lifestyle that many live today. This is just general observation from my part, not comments aimed at you. I know we’ve spoken before on the topic of animal consumption.

That is correct.

They certainly aren't God, and they aren't human beings.

That leaves angels.

Because if they can get just one little, itsy-bitsy, teeny-tiny prophecy to fail, then God is defeated.

With it being "so easy" to bring Him down, they have been convinced of His inevitable downfall.

Remember what they said to Jesus?

Matthew 8:29 And behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?

They must have been scared scienceless when He showed up -- thinking they didn't have time to bring Him down.

But they would know there is no possibility to do so. They're rebelling for some other reason.
Either way, that's not a flaw in my religion.

That's non-sensical if they have confirmed and comprehensive knowledge about God's omnipotent and omniscient characteristics.

Stupid -- aren't they?

Polytheism is a MAJOR flaw in your religion.

Tell me:

As a polytheist, do you include JEHOVAH in your Pantheon?

If so, is He what He says/demonstrates He is?

Omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent?

Then why did Satan tempt Jesus in the wilderness, if he didn't think he had a chance?

Possibly, but if you believe in an omni-everything god, then they're only doing what that god scripted them to do. My point is, the concept of fallen angels is nonsensical.

I thought it strange before when you suggested I might be weak in faith. I'm more than happy to admit that science doesn't support the existence of my deities, and I'm fine with that. I can still believe and accept science. But you can't. Is it because your faith falls apart if you accept science?

As a polytheist, do you include JEHOVAH in your Pantheon?

If so, is He what He says/demonstrates He is?

Omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent?

He's not in my pantheon, but I can accept him as a god. He's another face in the crowd and not omni-anything. He's not a bad guy, though.

Then why did Satan tempt Jesus in the wilderness, if he didn't think he had a chance?

I don't know, it's your story.
