by the scientific method we know that god exist (see my signature link for instance). so scientists need to believe in god too. actually, most of them indeed believe:

• Every single believer ... past, present, and future ... believes IN THE BEGINNING, GOD. If consensus of opinion carries so much academic weight, then they should give this point a lot more consideration than they do.

2. Cause-and-Effect.

I am a scientist and an atheist. You are correct many scientists believe in God. But I am unaware of any significant evidence they have provided for the God hypothesis such that I would find it compelling.

I agree that consensus is helpful if one is unable to test the hypothesis. Presumably the hypothesis has been tested scientifically and gathers a consensus. But God, to my knowledge, is not and indeed can't really be tested scientifically. If there's a consensus it isn't related to a scientific consensus. It is a belief common to humans.

And, again, why wouldn't you YOU be a muslim if I can find a lot of muslim scientists?

No, I think you said EXACTLY what you mean. It is what I assume you actually VALUE. Aggravating and stirring the pot.

Don't get me wrong. I like doing that too. A lot of people like doing that. It's our darker side.

Now if only you understood the pot you were stirring. That might make it more interesting and less...aggravating.

The biggest problem of all, however, is from how science works fundamentally: Why propose an additional factor that is not necessary to explain the data? If I can explain most of the variability in the data using only purely natural factors why propose something that is not necessary and causes more problems than it solves?
