That is not the only requirement Jesus had for us.
As you said before we are to love God and love others.
Also, God commands repentance of us, too.

Judas hated it when he betrayed the Lord, that does not make it right that he did so and it does not make it right that he committed suicide. One can hate sin, but the real test is to stop if one truly hates it. An alcoholic can say that he hates his drinking, but until he stops he doesn't really hate it.



God does not lose glory if we obey Him. On the contrary, Jesus says this:

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." (Matthew 5:16).

Obedience does not steal Glory....Thinking you partake in salvation by your obedience to the Law steals glory from the one who shed His Blood for you—— the one and only thing that DID save you.

That's the way, ignore the context.

I was actually quoting James 2:24. So I fail to see how a quote from Scripture is ignoring context. I will repeat it again, but in bold letters.

"Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only." (James 2:24).

Abraham was reckoned righteous, then the attempted sacrifice of his son followed.

It is written,

"Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?" (James 2:21).

Oh yes you did, you believe in justification by works and in complete contradiction of salvation by Grace through faith.

No. If a man boasts in his own works like in Ephesians 2:9, he would be like the Pharisees who would do works out in the open so as to be seen by men. That is the farthest thing from my mind.

Oh, and God directed works is not in view in Ephesians 2:9. Man directed works is in view in Ephesians 2:9. Ephesians 2:10 transitions to talking about God directed works. But the theme of Paul's argument in Ephesians 2 is against man directed works.

Okay. So let me get this straight. If you believe you are saved by grace through belief alone without works of any kind and or holiness, then that means you believe you can live in as much sin as you want and still be saved. Why? Because that is the only alternative.

James is talking about watching others suffer, while you rest in your saving faith!

And can that kind of faith save? No.
For James's point is that this is a kind of faith that cannot save. It is a dead kind faith.
James says even the demons believe and tremble.
James is not making a one time point here.
James is talking about a universal truth.
Faith (that is lived out) is dead without works.

Paul is really talking about legal works more often than not.

Paul is trying to refute Works Alone Salvationism (That does not include God's grace).
For Paul does not mention a false belief that includes God's grace + works.
Paul is only trying to refute the idea of Man Directed Works Alone as a means of salvation.

No there is not, you an only be saved by God's gift to you in Christ Jesus.

That is not the point. The point is that if we are not saved by works or holiness, than we can live as we please and still be saved.

I believe I walk uprightly most days. But God knows my life.

His teaching within His Word on overcoming sin would be true regardless.
Remember, only Noah and his family were spared.
Did not Jesus say that when He returns, will He find faith upon the Earth?

You cannot have a true faith without works and holiness. This means that works and holiness are required as a part of the salvation process. For it is God who works in us to be holy.

Not according to 1 John 1:7. It says if we walk in he light as He is in the light, the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin. Walking in the light is in reference to keeping his commandments. Again, compare 1 John 1:6-7 with 1 John 2:3-4.

It is not about me. Whether I live holy or not, the Bible is still true when it comes to it teaching that a believer can overcome sin or to walk uprightly. Even if the majority of the whole world did not obey God, His Word would still be true. In fact, Noah and his family were the only ones spared. The rest of the world lived wickedly. Peter says that the global flood was an example to all who would live ungodly thereafter.

Sigh. The word “gay” could be used in public without anyone looking weird at you because it meant something different in the past when used in passing conversation. In other words, certain words change with the passage of time. For we cannot enforce our modern way of speaking and writing English upon 1600’s English.

For Webster's 1913 Dictionary says this for the word "evil":

"Producing or threatening sorrow, distress, injury, or calamity; unpropitious; calamitous; as, evil tidings; evil arrows; evil days.
Because he hath brought up an evil name upon a virgin of Israel."​

Okay. Again, no problem here. First, a lying spirit that God uses for his purposes does not mean God Himself is lying. Second, you do realize that the spirit did lie, and succeeded in it's mission, right? (See 2 Chronicles 18:21).

Sorry but it IS about you.You preach one thing—- no faith without holiness,then pretty much say it does not matter if you do or not.Not to be unkind but it seems kinda phariseeic....preach a standard for others , putting a burden on the them that you yourself don’t keep.

Revelation is the most Bizzare book in the bible. I can honestly say I've probably only read it once in twenty years or so. I found it a little bit too much to take in and understand and also a little disturbing.

I think John probably knew what it was about . I'd have a pot shot that people in his own generation could work it out too because Revelation is addressed to the Church. I think there are many layers to the word of God so the answer to this puzzle could run deep. Then again, some Truths hit you in the face when you see them ( the penny drops ) and you wonder on how on earth how you missed it.

John spent many hours alone with God on that Island so maybe they key to understanding is there.
