• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I just started zoloft a week or so ago, I aslo take ativan to help level my moods.my doc thinks I also need a mood stabilizer and would like to phase out the ativan, but I havn't been able to tolerate the standard, or off label prescribed ones, including, depakote, lithium, tegretol, nuerontin, nor ant-psychotics. oh and lamictal wich she says is not for me-

Is there anyone on a mood stabilizer other than the ones listed above?
And what else do you take?

Daryl

I was on Lithium 300 mgs twice daily for almost 2 yrs. It worked quite well actually. I had side effects the first couple weeks but it levelled out and I felt stable. 300 mgs is a small dose I have been told and it still worked well.

Blessings...

It made me tired as well. Very...I remember trying to study and my eyes couldn't stay open or sitting in an exam and I could care less about the paper...I just wanted to put my head down. I felt like I was incerdibly weakened at first. That quickly (within a week) turned into a kind of "I feel fine but I'm tired". I felt vey fuzzy and "vague" for a week or two as well. I had mild tremors and increased liquid intake as well. All of those eventually levelled out but that tiredness...Wow....that was something I thought I couldn't handle.

A combo of depakoe ER 1000mg and Serequol 50 mg has kept me stable now for 3 years. At first everything they gave me had some kind of side effect with my body. I also had terrible mood swings and felt more depressed on meds that worked for others.

I am praying that the Lord will guide you and help you find the right meds for you. Praying that your doctor will have wisdom and patience. amen.
