I don't know how to reply to your post, dad. It depresses me. Every single thing you've written is total, 100% nonsense. I could reply in detail but I'd have to go through it sentence by barking mad sentence and I'd just end up insulting you, which wouldn't be much fun for either of us, so I'll leave it for today.

But I'll be back.

No problem. Although I haven't the personal experience of being down for the count, I can sympathize. Have a nice rest. Eat some wheaties. Maybe in another thread or forum, or life, you can have back at er.

A rational person's inability to counter nonsense is not a victory, dad. It's obvious your standards for what amounts to 'winning' an argument are as illogical and nonsensical as your arguments themselves.

Thanks for the gibberish. Be well. Pointing out the powerful and real impact on the world, and man, and the calendar is anything but nonsense, of course.

Calendars are nothing but if not in any sense but at all. If you could only see what the point in that saying it isn't so. For sure, it makes to the point in so much as trying. Why not? If not, here's simply: How would YOU TELL? But you can't. You made a good effort, though. ;)

That is a mouthful of nothing. THE calendar of man reflects many spiritual things. It permeates the experiences of man, and is reflected in the records of man. That is a whole lot of somethin!

That's a good point, bro, that the calendar brings out the spiritual side of mankind.

I wonder what the days of the week would be if atheists would have named them?

Singularity day, Pond scum day, Doubt for no reason day, No afterlife day, So called science day, Same state past day, and There is no God day?

Months? Hmm...any suggestions?

Maybe throw in a holiday for the day Nietzsche went stark raving mad, and a holiday for nero fiddling, and maybe 'big bang day' and 'pond scum day'? Of course I suppose they might want to reverence some ancestors.. 'cockroach day, flat worm day'! And they could keep changing the year they set the calendar to, depending on the latest missing link claim. How nice.

Maybe we could go into business on the side. Selling our calendars to Christian book stores? They ought to go like hot cakes! I wouldn't mind a line of specialty toilet paper as well, imprinted. But maybe that is too risque for this forum to mention..? Darwin tissue...sensibly priced.

Given the days of the week in the Western tradition are numbered after pagan deities, I';d have thought the literalists among us would be worried about idolatry, even having a desk calender.
We don't use the official etymological calendar -- (i.e. we don't think like you guys do).

The English Language is sufficiently broad enough as to mangle these guys' names (if indeed you guys are right in the first place) to the point of inconsequence.

Using your logic -- should atheists stop saying, 'goodbye'?

Hi. Made it back from Afghanistan? Congrats. (if memory serves)

The calendar merely reflects man. No worries. I am happy that the biggest influence was Christ.

If you say so.

How about I ask you, instead?

You're the one who said this:

Does that standard apply to atheists as well?

I wonder what the days of the week would be if atheists would have named them?
Origin of the names of the days

The names of the days are in some cases derived from Teutonic deities or, such as in Romance languages, from Roman deities. The early Romans, around the first century, used Saturday as the first day of the week. As the worshipping of the Sun increased, the Sun's day (Sunday) advanced from position of the second day to the first day of the week (and saturday became the seventh day).
Sunday
The name comes from the Latin dies solis, meaning "sun's day": the name of a pagan Roman holiday. It is also called Dominica (Latin), the Day of God. The Romance languages, languages derived from the ancient Latin language (such as French, Spanish, and Italian), retain the root.
French: dimanche; Italian: domenica; Spanish: domingo
German: Sonntag; Dutch: zondag. [both: 'sun-day']
Monday
The name comes from the Anglo-Saxon monandaeg, "the moon's day". This second day was sacred to the goddess of the moon.
French: lundi; Italian: lunedi. Spanish: lunes. [from Luna, "Moon"]
German: Montag; Dutch: maandag. [both: 'moon-day']
Tuesday
This day was named after the Norse god Tyr. The Romans named this day after their war-god Mars: dies Martis.
French: mardi; Italian: martedi; Spanish: martes.
The Germans call Dienstag (meaning "Assembly Day"), in The Netherlands it is known as dinsdag, in Danmark as tirsdag and in Sweden tisdag.
Wednesday
The day named to honor Wodan (Odin).
The Romans called it dies Mercurii, after their god Mercury.
French: mercredi; Italian: mercoledi; Spanish: miércoles.
German: Mittwoch; Dutch: woensdag.
Thursday
The day named after the Norse god Thor. In the Norse languages this day is called Torsdag.
The Romans named this day dies Jovis ("Jove's Day"), after Jove or Jupiter, their most important god.
French: jeudi; Italian: giovedi; Spanish: jueves.
German: Donnerstag; Dutch: donderdag.
Friday
The day in honor of the Norse goddess Frigg.
In Old High German this day was called frigedag.
To the Romans this day was sacred to the goddess Venus, and was known as dies veneris.
French: vendredi; Italian: venerdi; Spanish: viernes.
German: Freitag ; Dutch: vrijdag.
Saturday
This day was called dies Saturni, "Saturn's Day", by the ancient Romans in honor of Saturn. In Anglo-Saxon: sater daeg.
French: samedi; Italian: sabato; Spanish: sábádo.
German: Samstag; Dutch: zaterdag.
Swedish: Lördag; and in Danish and Norse: Lørdag ("washing day").
