  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

i'd actually pay good money to see this...

It happens invisibly like a lot of stuff in the invisible church.

Hey, we don't discount the validity of invisibility either:

Let us who mystically represent the Cherubim and who sing the thrice-holy hymn to the life-creating Trinity, now lay aside all cares of this life, that we may receive the King of All, who comes invisibly upborne by the angelic host. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.

And also holy, holy holy :preach:
Rotherham) Isaiah 6:3 And they continued crying out one to another, and said, Holy--holy--holy, is Yahweh of hosts,--the fulness of the whole earth, is his glory.

Reve 4:8 And *the four living-ones one according to *one *them *having above six wings compassing and within being *replete of eyes and rest not they are having day and night, saying "holy holy holy Lord the God the Almighty, the One-was and the One-being and the One-coming"

= prayer treating God as ATM. It is not that it is wrong to pray, or even wrong to ask God for something, but it is insufficient to stop at what is described here; this is a pagan approach, rather than a Christian one, as I have explained already.

Certainly it is true that God answers prayer. But it is also the case that we must first seek the will of God in our lives, not just try to coerce him to do what we want.

Here is the distinction again:

Pagan spell - seeks to manipulate deity to do what we want; man in control.
Christian prayer, as taught to us by the Lord - seeks to find the will of God and then prays for that will to be done. We can petition as part of that prayer, but always with the caveat that God's will must be done, not ours; God in control.
Well said! :preach:
Wow your concept of God is a bit strange to me. For I know that My Father loves me and if I ask for bread He will not give me a stone. Who said anything about coercing God?
You have read much more into the post than what was actually said.
It seems like she was explaining the difference between how the pagans appeal to their gods/god vs the Christian way, IMHO
