  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Thank you Mr Moderator, for re-inforcing misconceptions about Pr, in a thread designed to resolve same. Now OTOH, if you were to hear straight from the horse's mouth, you would have a very different picture ...

Care to actually address the post?

The dictionary gives secularized versions of these kinds of words. We know what Jesus came for and it was not to start a new religion. Not at all.

Oh, Ok, the dictionary actually gives the incorrect, "secular" definition of the word, but you do. ^_^

So you believe Jesus didn't come to give us an understanding of God and the universe, per your own statement. Ok, that's rather weird, but people twisting English to create religious buzzwords is nothing new. :D

Here is another misconception about Protestants.

Protestants souls cannot corrupt the souls of other dead Christians. In Belfast, N.Ireland a Protestant and RC graveyard were situated beside each other. The RC's got worried that the dead Protestants could somehow tarnish the souls of the dead Catholics, so the RC church built an underground wall between the two graveyards.

"a 9-foot deep underground wall was meant to divide consecrated and non-consecrated
ground and separate the Catholic and Protestant sections of the new graveyard"

We believe the Church is indefectible -- that "the gates of hell shall not prevail against it" (Mt 16:18).
Lots of defects in the people that run the churches, whether they be of the Roman Catholic denomination or any other.

There is no defect in Jesus Christ.

^_^^_^^_^^_^^_^

Is this what is meant by "finding more power, than I've ever dreamed, I'm learning to lean on Jesus?"

That IS a Pr song, right? Swaggart, was it? :D I had no idea I was so powerful!

Was it whitewashed :) :p

Matt 23:27 'Woe to ye Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!
That ye are likened to sepulchres, whitewashed, who-any outwardly indeed appearing beautiful, within yet are being replete of bones of dead-ones, and of every uncleanness

Acts 23:2 The yet Chief-priest Ananias enjoins those standing beside him to be smiting of him the mouth.
3 Then the Paul said toward him, "to be smiting thee is being about the God.
Wall! whitewashed! and thou, thou dost sitting judging me according to the law, and being beside law, ordering me to be being smitten!" [Matt 23:27/Revelation 6:16]

Nope :) Not taking that bait. You could at least try to disguise the hook

Disguise what hook? I explained why I think Non-Denomational Christians are a form of Protestantism and you just say "that's a misconception" without actually backing it up. Then when asked to back it up, you refuse to back it up. How is it a misconception that Non-Denominational Christians are often fundamentalist/Calvinist/Sola Scriptura/various other forms of Protestantism?

"I'm reaching across the aisle, take my hand you pagan", lol. I don't think ther'll be any hand holding here. No world shaking monument will arise from this thread I don't think
It's the world who suffers the most by the insolent division of "the brethren"...
Wait, IS that one of the telltale signs of being "the brethren"?

Love and grace just seems so much more important to me right now than wondering if others are right or wrong. that stuff all works out in the wash without me having to deal with it. I'd rather be like Jesus in not finding fault en mass. There are more important things little lambs, you dears!
:prayer:
By this all men will know that you are My disciples,
if you have love for one another."

I think another misconception about protestants is that we can address them as if they subsist as one body. Truly, in order to give the dignity and honor each believer deserves, I must consider them individually or at least at the denominational level.

To lump them all together does a disservice to both them and me.
No it doesn't.
Lumping ALL of God's kids under Christ does a service to all.
Christ in me, the hope of glory.:)

 Seriously? Can't that be un-done just on the grounds of sheer tackiness? Or do we need to make a whip ...
Whip making 101 baby.

*snip*Whip making 101 baby.
Or rather this..a whippin He shall go, a whippin He shall go.....: :)

Nahum 3:2 A sound of a whip and sound of a quaking wheel and horse galloping and chariot prancing, a horseman mounting up and blaze of sword and flashing of spear and many wounded and mass of corpses, and is no end to bodies and they stumble in bodies of them.
[Isaiah 28 "scourge"]

John 2:15 When He had made a whip/fragellion <5416> of cords, He drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and the oxen, and poured out the changers' money and overturned the tables.

Yea, sadly it is true Lively. There are people on threads here that put a lot of energy into robbing the church of Her Jerusalem Brideship to Christ and teach something else.

I don't think so.

They even have Christ coming in a physical body again lol.

They believe the Bible!

I've noticed that the Church of Christ doesn't appear to involve themselves in this kind of thinking as deeply as the others. They know that we are the Kingdom of God now and that Christ is reigning forever on the throne of David. So I have something of the Lord in common with them and have found fertile ground there. But most Pr are hard core into a fairly new brand of christianity that isn't any closer or farther away from God than RC. Check it out. I haven't dared step foot in there yet lol. They look vicious :)

Actually, there is nothing new about it.

People using secular definitions to rationalize away and replace the truth of Scripture miss the boat. Enjoy your religion, while I enjoy my relationship with the Most High God.

If that wasn't so pathetic, I'd be laughing.
