Michigan GOP leaders after White House meeting: 'We will follow the law'
Michigan’s top two legislative leaders vowed Friday that the presidential candidate with the most votes will win the state's electoral votes after departing a meeting with President Donald Trump at the White House.

With the eyes of the nation on them and criticisms flying from Democrats, seven Michigan lawmakers traveled to meet with Trump for about an hour. The visit came as supporters of the president have moved in recent days to overturn the results of the state's election, which Democratic President-elect Joe Biden won by more than 154,000 votes in unofficial returns.

Oh might be interesting too that when they say the one with the most votes wins doesn't have to exclude that they're talking about legal votes only. A true vote is a legal one.
They said “"We have not yet been made aware of any information that would change the outcome of the election in Michigan,” clearly they plan to uphold the vote count published by the counties.

That was not the answer that Trump wanted to hear. He wants loyalty to him, not the country and not the law.

The Michigan Republicans aren't going to steal the election for Trump. They're eyeing 2022 already, they want to take out Whitmer. Stealing the election for Trump would result in the GOP never winning in this state again and everyone knows it. They may humor Trump with a meeting but they aren't going to change the results of the election.

Hi tulc,

Yes, those Michigan legislators are wiser than Trump. They realize that overturning the will of the people of the state, as represented by the popular vote, sets in motion an act that would just completely destroy the bedrock foundation of what our democratic republic is based on, as far as leadership. They realize that moving down such a path, without being able to prove to the people that the vote count was somehow faulty, we become a nation where the vote really is useless. Our leaders are picked solely on the say of the electoral college and the electoral college votes are just up to be grabbed by the person with the most money and power. We might as well quit voting and just let the candidates buy as many votes as they can through the state legislators.

As Lindsey Graham said of Donald Trump in the beginning, his becoming the Republican candidate would destroy the Republican party. His overturning the outcome of an election through intimidation and money would destroy the very foundation of our system of governance.

God bless,
ted

I hope that one of them decides to open up about what happened in the meeting. It may constitute a crime.

Then there is this just out:

Republican leaders ask Michigan Board of State Canvassers to delay certification of election results

DETROIT – Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel and Michigan Republican Party Chairman Laura Cox penned a joint letter dated today to the Michigan Board of State Canvassers asking to delay the certification of election results for two weeks.

The period would allow for a full audit and investigation into potential voter fraud. Since the presidential election Republican leaders have made allegations of voter fraud without substantial evidence.
The letter was sent only a day after Michigan Republican leaders met with President Donald Trump.

Both Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey and House Speaker Lee Chatfield were invited to the White House on Friday as part of Trump’s effort to overturn results in the election he lost.

After the meeting both leaders issued a joint letter noting that the meeting with the president was on the state’s fight against COVID-19.

“We used our time in the White House to deliver a letter to President Trump making clear our support for additional federal funds to help Michigan in the fight against COVID-19. We have since sent the same correspondence to congressional leaders,” said Shirkey and Chatfield in the joint statement.

While returning from Washington, DC today Shirkey avoided answering questions from the press.
