Methodists Fearful of Islamification of their Churches

Okay, wait. Let me be sure I'm clear about that.

You have a relative who was a failure as a missionary to Muslims.

I have a good friend--who I support, btw--who is pretty successful as a missionary to Muslims (right now he's in Kashir, India, running a more open effort than he could in Morocco).

And your relative who failed knows more about it than my friend who succeeds?

I'm actually in shock! Yours in the most hateful and vicious comment I've seen on any Christian forum. You are speaking of a kind and Godly man who spent his life as a missionary doing God's work, he brought many heathen souls to the Lord, he lived in squalid conditions that would make most of us cringe.
The fact that you have "a good friend" who says he is converting Muslims does not make you an expert on missionary work. It depends on where the person is situated and the influence of radical Islamists as to whether it is possible to even mention Christianity. Christians are being killed all over the world for their faith.
My brother in law was sent to Kiev as his next assignment, which is 50 miles from Chernobyl, he and some of the other missionaries developed cancer no doubt from being so close to Chernobyl and in January of this year he went to be with his Lord.
I think that perhaps you should go to Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq or one of these countries and see how successful you are at converting Muslims before you consider yourself a "failure". But you're not doing that are you?
May God forgive you for your venomous comment about a good and decent man. I will pray for the hate that is in your soul.

No, you're using your relative to assert that an entire group of people are unreachable, disposable, not worth the effort to carry out the commission of Jesus.

Yes, I have myself been to the Middle East myself. And I'm too well ensconced in fellowship with men who have been missionaries to Muslims, men who were Christians in Muslim countries, and men who were Muslims that had to give up their families and entire lives to follow Christ.

So I know your claim is untrue and will not let you write off Muslims as unsalvageable without response.

YOU ARE LYING! Your first comment said that your Church group, not you, had been to the middle east, then you said you had a friend who was a missionary who was reeling in Muslims on a large scale now you say that you've been yourself. I know all about Church mission trips they don't EVER take members of their congregation to dangerous areas. You don't even have your story straight but that's what happens when people don't tell the truth.
If you knew anything at all about this you would know that it depends on the area and how radical the Muslims, are in that area, which sect they belong to, as to whether it is even safe to pursue missionary work. The fact that you don't know that illustrates your lack of understanding of the situation.
You have insulted a good a decent man who spent his entire life as a missionary, you sit safely behind your computer and pass judgment on his life. He went out into the jungle to reach those who had never heard The Word, some of the men he had brought to Christ volunteered to go with him to protect him they would have given their lives for him, everyone knew he was in danger.

As a Christian I must try to forgive you for ridiculing life of a man who devoted his life and made enormous sacrifices to bring heathen souls to know His word which he was very successful at while you sit in comfort behind your computer and say untrue things about his life. If there is a failure here it is your failure to be a Christian.
In your heart you know that what you've said is untrue and you must make your peace with God.
I thought this forum was for Christian people but you have demonstrated a total lack of Christian love and indeed knowledge of Christian missionary work.
I won't be back here while people who profess to be Christians are allowed to write such hatred towards people who really have devoted their lives to Christ and the disrespect shown to the memory of my brother in law.

I thought this forum was for Christian people but you have demonstrated a total lack of Christian love and indeed knowledge of Christian missionary work.

I can think of other reasons for him being in these countries besides as a missionary or a "bus tour to the Holy land".....but you left NO room for other options and leapt right to him being dishonest (his profile picture should give you a hint). Please be careful about how you accuse people based on assumptions (including Muslims). Please get to know people (and their experiences)--it may just broaden your mind and heart.

Presumptuous!!!! The spite which shows through in each comment where he calls my brother in law "a failed missionary" are not any words that the Christians I know would use.
The SPITE says much about his character. I hope he finds peace in his soul.

Wait...I thought you were leaving? If it was important enough for you to announce it I thought it would be rude to not say good-bye in return. After all, it's not like you couldn't just leave this fora and not come back and never tell anyone you were doing so...oh wait...
tulc(thinks the announcement could have used a few colors in the writings, maybe a couple of pointed anathemas and he sort of misses the whole "shaking of the dust from the feet" that used to accompany most flounces, but still, there seemed to be some real energy in announcing the leave taking in the post)
