  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You really won't know if you have chemistry or will "mesh" well with a person, until you meet them in person.

I agree with Leo, I don't think that driving 5 hours makes you look desperate. It makes you look interested, not desperate. I say go for it. Just make sure that you don't get your expectations up too much... as said, it can be difficult to tell if you'll get along with a person in real life, based on online interactions.

Can you really feel a spark over Skype? Isn't that just sitting in front of a computer talking? Really, the best way is in person...and traveling between the two cities listed isn't considered a major trip of any sort...it could actually even be done in a single day if the meeting was an afternoon date.

All I can say is yes it's possible. Traveling a few thousand miles isn't always practical until things work out online for a while.
A mere half day drive sounds like the best route in this case.
I'm merely tossing out some anecdotal experience on my end...

I once went on this dating site and the stupid computer picked me someone from christichurch which is miles away. I specified only ppl in auckland, im not getting ppl from out of town. I cant afford to go visit other towns.

Anyway, this guy who seemed real keen, only cared that i was in auckland cos he was running away from something in christchurch. Cos he just turned up, and he made out like it was to see me as if he really loved me, but he was a con artist. I dont know why he couldnt find a girl in his home town. Possibly nobody liked him there...then he tried to say that going all that distance was proof of his love for me. Whatever. He just wanted to get out of chch.
