Matthew 22:23-33 clearly states that we will not be married in the resurrection still LDS persist in claiming otherwise. These are the words of Christ.

We teamed up with Faith Counseling. Can they help you today?

This is the same tactic I consistently get when I question Mormons about this section. They never really answer and just distract and create a diversion.

As always the LDS have no valid answer to this scripture.

A valid challenge to Mormon teaching.

Yes, and Mormons have never given me a valid response. This passage is the #1 reason that I left the LDS Church.

LDS have virtually nothing to do with the teaching of Jesus Christ. They are not a Christian church.

In actuality it is not. More accurately many people (denominations) have their own take on the gospel. Only one is right, we'll all find out eventually which belief is correct.

The reverse is also applicable. Are you actually interested in non-LDS perspectives? If not then why did you respond to the OP? This is a debate forum.

And the LDS take on the gospel is sickly perverse.

I can't speak to LDS intelligently, outside of knowing that John Smith basically made his own gospel. So I won't say LDS is this or that, but I will say that the LDS belief is geberally not in agreement with the four original gospels.

First off, it’s Joseph Smith and not John.

Secondly, the LDS Church contains many unorthodox teachings.

I hardly can see how quoting a scripture is “throwing rocks”. I have a feeling you are claiming this because you have no valid response to either the passage or the thread.

Firstly, welcome to Christian Forums, Solomon Smith. I hope you will find your time here edifying.

Secondly, I found after many, many hours of discussion and debate with our resident Mormons on a variety of topics that often the presumption is made that if someone posts about how the LDS teaching violates the Christian faith (as you have, and as we all do), the first recourse will be "This person is not interested in hearing from actual LDS people". I guess the thinking is that LDS consider themselves Christians, so anyone who says otherwise is just a bigot and/or misinformed.

I don't know why they cannot at least entertain the idea that they might be wrong in their basic truth claims as a religious body when as I understand it (based on what they themselves have told me on this very message board) the central concept of the 'Great Apostasy' involves literally every other religious body on the face of the planet except for the Mormons being wrong.

What are the chances, y'know? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So it is very much a "Goldilocks" religion, just like the earlier iterations of restorationism like Islam and the like: these people over here didn't get it right, those people over there didn't get it right, but my people, we got it exactly right because XYZ (God loves us the most, we have a 'living prophet' to guide us, our magical sacred book is preserved on a marble tablet in heaven, ancient Hebrew Indians told us so on magic perfectly preserved golden plates which nobody ever got to actually see with their eyes, etc., etc. -- whatever silly nonsense reasons based on nothing that they may have).

When that doesn't work/if they don't want to risk having their religion 'insulted' by people who just plain don't believe in it, the conversation will often retreat into feelings, as you've seen: "I don't come here to be made fun of!" or some version of that. So they take their Ball of Mormon with them (their liahona, if you like fancy foreign-sounding names for made up stuff) and go home where nobody will ever challenge them so rudely ever again.

This is how it often goes here. It is difficult to debate with those who will not hear a contrary word/apparently don't understand what a debate is, but sometimes if you approach things in a soft enough manner, as though you are talking to someone who has literally never had their worldview challenged and hence would not know how to handle that happening, they will talk to you.

Perhaps you could rephrase your OP along the lines of "Jesus says X. The BOM says Y. How do Mormons understand X in light of their teaching on Y? I'm not a Mormon, so I don't see how they're supposed to fit together/not contradict."

It's annoying to have to play dumb, but eh...here we are.

I don’t think I will change the OP I intend to keep it honest and let the scripture speak. I think it’s sad that I have gotten no response from Mormons here.
