but the point of this story that most of you are very familiar with was, masturbation hurt my soul and the way in which i think. sin is something that hurts the individual, so therefore masturbation is a sin
The only point of your story is that it became a problem for you. I appreciate that you may be a case-in-point that masturbation can become addictive or can lead to other "sinful" acts or situations which result in guilt or what not. However, it doesn't mean that everyone who masturbates falls into the same pattern you did.

Masturbation does not, in and of itself, normally harm a person. In your case, as in some others, maybe it does. In other cases, it can be beneficial (as pointed out in this thread).

"The way I see it a 15 yr old boy is going to have these urges because thats how their bodies are programmed to work. It's not lust attacking, it's nature (and hormones) at work...God's plan if you will."

i agree that the continuation of life and the natural instincts that are programmed into our genes are part of god's plan. but i also believe that something that separates humans from beasts is the ability to resist instinct. men do not have hormones just at the age of 15. in fact, the feelings are even stronger for some men over the age of 30. if all of us acted according to urges, what would become of society. we have urges daily. the urge to cheat, the urge to steal, the urge to fight. if we became like animals and did whatever our body told us to do, we would be a society of disorder, blood, and turmoil. that is why bible speaks against doing all of these things which are part of human instinct. it's not the individual acts that are destructive to our souls, that i agree with. but being under the power of lust is destructive. masturbation inevitably leads to lust. i believe that the bible is never wrong and the bible specifically speaks against lust. so therefore, the must be something about lust that is detremental

if you want to argue from a biological view, how does masturbation increase likelyhood of reproduction and how does it help the human body at all?

I don't often have the urge to steal or fight so I'm going to have to pass on that one...

Biologically, masturbation doesn't have to increase the likelihood of reproduction or help the human body (although some have pointed out a lower likelihood of certain types of cancer, check with the men on that). A good back rub doesn't do anything either but it sure feels good and makes me a happier person while having zero negative effect on anything. It's really not that different. Very young boys who don't have a clue about women often touch just because it feels good...I fail to see where lust has anything to do with that.

The biggest problem with masturbation is the associated guilt that some people feel. Coping with physical urges while deriving pleasure from it and then getting on with the business of living life is a better option than being frustrated, stressed, guilty and shamed by each 'failure'. In fact the struggle not to touch has become it's own obsession witnessed by all the books and support groups that have sprung up.

I will stand by my statement that wishing (or praying) sexual urges away may not be in anyones best interest as they might not come back on cue.

It semmes the question about masturbation keeps coming up..
But I can't find anything in the Bible that says that the action in itself is a sin.. although lusting, and dirty thouights are. Usually this is connected to masturbation, so in that manner it becomes a sin.
But if you can do it while worshipping the LORD, then go ahed!
But I'd like to advise you to stay away from it.. it's easy to get addicted (as so many become), and it makes it easier to lust the next time..
God bless!

Excellent point!

Lust is a sin and it can run rampid through an individual's life! Very well stated!

someone stated before that one must understand that throughout biblical times, marriage came at an early age and there was no need for masturbation. this is why it is not stated in the bible

We must also remember
Masturbation is not an action that necessarily brings us closer to God
Instead of asking why not
Why do it?
Because it feels good?
Why not do everything that feels good?

It does not say "do not touch" in the bible
but it also does not say "God wants you to touch" either

Masturbation can help relieve stress, menstrual cramps, insomnia, stimulates the immune system to help build up resistance to common infections, releases mood elevating hormones, reduces embarrassing spontaneous erections for teen males reduces the number of unwanted wet dreams . . .

I think many of those are speculation, not facts. The part about resistance to common infections is just nonsense.

What masturbation also does is increase your sex drive. It causes you to objectify people. It changes your outlook on people and causes you to spend more time thinking of people in a lustful way than you should be.

It is a bad habit and not something to take lightly. Doing it for recreational purposes should be out of the question.

And to add to that, the more one masturbates, the more they begin to look for new ways for feeding their habit. This can lead to pornography, fetishes, one-night stands, and other dangerous things.

Those are assertions and speculations, the website was most clearly out to promote masturbation.
Oh I see, everything you posted isn't an assertertion or speculation or laced with personal bias yet factual information backed up with a link to a medical information site is???
I found this link to be most helpful and I would hope all the teens on this site read it throughly. I highly reccommend it. Cool Nurse was created to help today's teen and young adult achieve and maintain a high level of health, fitness and well-being. Teenagers need to know the latest about health and about their bodies. Health and sex education has been cut from many school budgets. This site is a guide to assist you in making intelligent, informed decisions.

I didn't pretend mine was anything other than opinion and observation. That is not a medical website. That is a website that discusses health issues from a liberal perspective.

No, it was a website to sell ads. The books on 'loving yourself' were a nice touch. Simply put, they tell you to sin and then advertise books to assist you in doing so.

Good because that what it was.

It is a site that discusses teen health concerns from an unbiased non-religious perspective.

This website is like most public information service sites that needs sponsors to be able to exist free of charge. Would CF be able to exist without sponsors? And nowhere on the site do the tell anyone to sin!

xtxArchxAngelxtx[/font]]Considering the fact that mens sexuallity is much different and much more "intense" then a females, it does not surprise me in the least you would say this.

Welcome to the 18th century mate.

Women are every bit as sexual as men are.
