No, I don't think it is a sin. The Onin thing was about trying to get out of fathering an heir, not masturbation, as someone else mentioned. I think it is possible to do it without lusting, if it is a sexual release.

I think the context of it is important too. If someone's partner is unable to perform their marital obligations, I'd see this form of release as a being okay, and not a breaking of marital bonds as would adultery.

Also, if someone never marries, I see no sin in taking pleasure with your own body.

I think it is a healthy means to release sexual tension without having premarital sex.

Woah...explain this one!!! not everyone is geared for marriage. To call celibacy a perversion isn't fair to people who don't want to get married.

i don't know about masturbation. The Bible doesn't give any outright examples of it and there are some pretty graphic sexual examples of things in the Bible. Most people put it under the guise of selfishness or self-pleasure and call it wrong but i've never really been sure about this.

I've gone as long as three years without having sex or masturbating. I was just in a place where i really didn't want to indulge in sexual things and wanted to focus on God so that's how it helped me. But i guess guys find it hard to control their sex drive.

I am not going to put my view on how this is revealed to me but, let the Holy Spirit be your guide and if you feel that anything is wrong for you to do it is sin that is when the Holy Spirit interviens and lets you know when you are doing something wrong.

Work in Gods will and you will know, when people are talking to you, if they are His words or thier own.

In the very rare case that someone hasn't in that long, I do not admire nor do I envy. That person must be very very easy to anger and will have serious problems with their health in old age.
