As for the licking wounds and the other comments about how catholics are so mistreated,

The point is you guys act like your the only ones who have ever been hurt or attacked or mistreated on this site.

Some of the comments that were made about how protestants treat catholics were in my opinion, were a little far stretched.

My violin playing is just a joke...but I can see that you took it the wrong way.
Sorry.

I never said we were the only ones. But let's face facts which group is in the majority and which is in the minority? It's easy to rationalize that everyone gets hurt when we are in the majority.
I don't think it matters who is in What majority...what matters is that people are not truley forgiving each other about the past posts..that is shown by the past comments on this thread.
Oh really? How long were you Catholic growing up? Were you an active Catholic who lived it everyday or a lukewarm Catholic who didn't care what the church taught and so no one really bothered you with it.
I was very active in my faith as a catholic. I know most of the doctrines but it has been a long time and things have been taught differantly throughout the years. 22 years to be exact. So i guess the past 10 years I have been a bible believing christian.
I would bet dollars to doughnuts if VOW or myself made the same comment - you would have come unglued. You rarely miss an opportunity to zing us.
You better get me krispy creams!!!! I have been told by more than 5 people (admins)I have done good job keeping my comments "low key" to Vow especially. I have ignore many many comments that I wouldn't have in the past. I really just don't care anymore you know. I know what is truth and I feel i am grounded in truth my the Word of God thats all that really matters to me.I don't think you and I ever really got into it. Maybe I am mistaken .

Well...my apologies for their obvious misinformation. Their comment is NOT true and if you hear someone say that to you again, please correct them kindly.
The Pope has stated in documentation that we are in essence "separated bretheren" and that non-Catholic Christians have the same access to Christ, salvation, etc., that Catholics have.
The part that is different is where Sacred Tradition and Sacraments come into play and anyone can see that there is a difference.
The Catholic Church has all 7 sacaraments where the Protestant church has, I believe only 2: Baptism and Confirmation. The church claims it contains the full deposit of faith from Christ and the Disciples.
Someone correct me if I am wrong on the sacaraments.
Does that make Catholics better than Protestants? Absolutely not and if someone tells you it does, they're wrong.
We believe we have the complete deposit of teachings, both written and oral. That's all. Protestants do not accept Oral/Sacred Tradition, Holy Orders, Eucharist, Anointing of the Sick or treat Marriage as a sacrament - its all factual.
And its not meant as a slam, putdown or a way to "one-up" the other. We argue over this very issue every day.

I have to correct you here KC, I am Protestant and the 2 sacraments are Baptism and Communion..not confirmation.. So we do believe in the Eucharist..we just don't call it that..we call it Holy Communion, or The Lord's Supper, etc..I do think Lutherans still refer to it as the Eucharist though

My church in particular does believe in the annointing of the sick and marriage..but not as sacraments..
Holy Orders as far as the priest hood, yes we believe this is WELL justified and a correct means for serving God, we just don't believe in the they shouldn't get married idea.
The nuns, we don't accept..so I guess it's half and half with holy orders.
But no we do not agree with Oral tradition..most Protestants believe in written tradition..

To Missy:
Holy Orders refer ONLY to the priesthood, not to women in God's service. It has to do with the Apostolic Succession.
The concept of marriage not being a Sacrament is another legacy from Luther. He felt it should be a CIVIL contract, and the Church should have no part in it. In Germany today, couples marry twice: once at City Hall, and the second time in Church.
And as for Tradition, Protestants have several traditions of their own. A past thread on "The Lord's Prayer" revealed that to be the case!
Peace be with you,
