  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

And then there are those who just stick their heads in the sand and refuse to HONESTLY FACT CHECK THEIR SOURCE OF INFORMATION.
I have do believe Chemie Grünenthal was FACT CHECKED during those "wonder years."

Evidently not, especially in the 1940s where pharmaceuticals were not controlled as they are today development test-wise and legally. Subjecting those times and practices to today's science and standards is dishonest to say the least.

If they have the right psychology, yes, because they actually believe what they made up.
What do you mean by "right psychology"? Are you suggesting that they were mad?

Well, consider when the Gospels were written, and consider how old the apostles would've had to be at that time, and do the math, chief.
40 years is still short enough that first hand eye witnesses would still be alive to give their testamony. They would have probably be as old as a Vietnam vet, chief. Unless you are suggesting that Vietnam vet testamonies are an unreliable source for historians your argument means nothing. Poor veterans.

Mad would not be the right term.

They are a certain group of people, who can not acknowledge well evidenced reality, because it is to painful for them to do so. What they do instead, is self manufacture their own reality and then they build defense mechanisms to protect the same.

People with certain personality disorders can display this behavior. Sociopaths can display this behavior, etc etc. Some folks can seem quite normal and only apply their self made reality to isolated issues and seem to be in tune with reality in other areas - the ability to compartmentalize comes in handy with these folks.

Is that why every third commercial on TV is a plea for someone to sue on behalf of the product they've been using?

Problem is, we have no reliable documention, any eye witnesses gave their testimony. Only hearsay from anonymous authors.

Try claiming eyewitness testimony in a court of law this way and the judge will laugh at you.

How likely is it that all 11 people would have had the same "personality disorder" and believe the exact same lie enough to die for it? Can you give an example in history where this happened before?

Quite high, with the right peer pressure among the 11 and group think involved.

This is why i find psychology so interesting. Ever hear of the Jonestown mass suicide?

What are the odds of 2/3 of the worlds population disagreeing with your religious belief, being wrong?

Jim Jones would throw the Bible down on the pulpit, calling It a "paper idol."

(Know anyone like that?)

Before he left for Jonestown, a man joined his church and was mortified at the way he was treating the Bible and being called "Father Jones."

He walked out.

Knowing his Bible saved his life.

And all those people believed him enough to die.

Why were they there?
Does it matter?

They certainly didn't go there to die.

As I understand it, they were to move on to their final destination: Russia.
