  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don't know why we do it to ourselves, but yeah, we have to look good and all. ^_^

Most of y'all would look good without the makeup. My girl is the prettiest to me without anything on her face, but it makes her happy to put all that on.

If you marry a girl who is into makeup that will be part of the budget.

It would be a part of her budget. I'd pay for it if she needed makeup while she was on maternity leave and all, and be glad to buy some of it for gifts and such. I wouldn't put makeup into the family budget. My girl has been working since she was 15, buys nearly all that stuff for herself.

The older I get I thankfully agree with that sentiment although, I still love putting it on.

It's true for some lucky girls... But personally I acknowledge I'm a train wreck without makeup.

I've been told by several different women when the issue about guys wearing makeup comes up that men would look better with a little bit of makeup (not talking about drag or anything, but done correctly to accent their features and stuff).

No..just..no. lol

I mean I could make this about being gender fluid but I'll just stick to this... Sure, in the movies men wear make up for the cameras, or if you do the news or tv or whatever, and that's fine. But honestly in the real world I don't want to see men roaming around buying eyeliner and contouring stuff for their face. That to me is not being a man. :sorry:

That's just ridiculous.

I want a man who looks like a man, not a pretty boy.

They were never talking about being a pretty boy or anything, just stuff that they do for cameras, highlight your best features and help hide your blemishes. I had a friend in high school say that she felt bad that guys couldn't wear makeup to help hide their acne, that's the kind of the thing that I'm talking about.

I'm all for moisturiser but going to those lengths is a bit much.

I've never understood it in movies or the news either; is their acting worse because their skin has blemishes? Is news any less newsworthy because they aren't powdercoated in makeup?

It has to do with the lighting mostly. Skin in naturally oily, which messes with the bright stage and camera lighting and causing people people look shiny and can mess with their features depending on angles and such. By correctly using makeup it helps remove this effect and allows the audience to see the person's face much more clearly and naturally as if the lighting wasn't there. .

Now I doubt that's really true. You're probably a lot harsher on yourself than other folks would ever be about your looks.

I've got a question for you ladies. This would probably be better in that skincare thread but this thread's right here, lol. Are those power brush things used to wash your face really worth the price? My girl was buying one for her sister's birthday present, and I was shocked by how expensive it is. To me, an electronic toothbrush with a new head to it would do the job for so much less. Her sister has really bad acne, this is supposed to help it. Not quite sure how.

She got the Naked palette didn't she? :D

Men really don't know how expensive it is to be a woman. I had to dial it back because I added up how much I was spending on all my products and it totaled over $400.

$400 on products?! Wow, you really are Beautimus Maximus. You take beauty to the max!

I can't speak to that product, but I use a brush for applying shaving cream when I shave and I definitely noticed a difference on my skin when using a higher quality brush as opposed to artificial hairs.

I use this;

It's a lot softer and easier on the skin. The other brush, despite the cream, was quite abrasive at times.

Men who wear makeup do it to look more manly, not pretty. The most basic is bronzer for face. Consider also hair and beard coloring. Fake tan.

Clarisonic? I would say if you have bad skin problems anything that helps is worth it, and clarisonic does help. Its also cheaper if you buy replacement heads via eBay instead of from somewhere like Nordstrom. But for me it just helped without totally solving the problem.

I've had skin problems my whole life though and have tried everything, and the only things that really get rid of it in my experience are either birth control (if your acne is hormonal) and NERD acne treatment.

I know it's fairly common for men to wear makeup in South Korea and I'd say they do it to be pretty more than masculine. But I definitely like the pretty man groomed, fashionable aesthetic from South Korea, so I'm for it.

The common reaction when I don't wear makeup is "are you tired?" Or " are you sick?" Not exactly screaming and running away, but not particularly flattering.

:mmh: Maybe it's because people are so use to seeing you without makeup they automatically get worried that you're not okay, it's not necessarily how you look. Maybe, I don't know, I'm not there, but that was my first thought! :)

And about the guys wearing makeup: Like I said, i totally get it for like the news because of the lighting, and for movies too.

But in every day life, for when you're just being you, around the house, or going out with your friends, or work (and not like the news or something), I just think it's a tad odd for a man to wear make up unless it's for acne. But to me, having breakouts make up never worked for me, and always made things worse, it gunks up your pores and just makes it more miserable. So medication seems like the better option.

Anyway!

I totally agree about brushes, there honestly are better brushes out there. I've had some that are extremely itchy and low quality. But I will say that just because something is more expensive doesn't always mean it's better quality. You just gotta do some research.

As I've grown up I've realized everything takes research now. lol
