  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Wow, a bunch of Catholic school boys refused to bow and scrape before these activists

...nobody was asking them to bow or scrape. Had someone said "you have to sit here and watch this protest with your hands folded" then you might have a point. These kids went out of their way to go and antagonize and mock him.

You seem to be creating a false dichotomy...as if the only two options are "agree with protesters" or "mock them"...there is the option of just ignoring it and walking away if you don't like it.

and now there is a campaign going online to find out who these kids are, reveal their identities, get them expelled, and essentially ruin the rest of their lives.

You mean kind of like InfoWars did to parents of kids who got shot up in an elementary school because they dared to call for stricter gun control measures?

If their parents can afford to send them to a Catholic school, then they can afford to send them elsewhere...it's not going to ruin their lives. They can also go to :gasp: public school like most of us did.

audacity to smirk in response to some guy taunting him by banging a drum in his face.

The Native American wasn't trying to taunt him.

This is another example of "people on the far right claim to support Troops...unless those troops support an agenda that's against Trump's...then to heck with them!".

I suppose this guy:
CqlJ2u0UsAEVIbk.jpg

...who was yelling "go make my <expletive> burrito" to Mexican protesters is the good guy for not "bowing and scraping", right????

As hard as it is for people to admit...a substantial portion of the die hard Trump support base are obnoxious idiots. (and I'm saying this as a person who's very critical of the overly-PC left)

If the teens weren't wearing MAGA hats, I'm very doubtful that the media would have picked it up, and I'm even more doubtful that it would have been posted here. Don't say "this isn't about Trump" when what you want us to take away from this is "Trump supporters harass minority". It's disingenuous.

Of course it's about Trump...but it should be. His rhetoric is sparking some less than desirable behavior.

Racists have been emboldened by Trump's rhetoric and feeling like they've got "one of their own" in the white house. Plain and simple...no denying it.

And he made no effort to repudiate their support.

"Good and bad people on both sides"
"Uh, I don't know who David Duke is so I'm not going to reject his endorsement until I do more research" (even though 2010 Trump was on record criticizing him for being a racist)

Trump supporters need to own up to what they voted for.

That Heavy link is particularly informative. It covers a lot more angles, information and comments from folks one degree separated from the events (plural).

It did raise one question. Where was the anti-abortion march located relative to the Indigenous People's March?

Actually two questions - Trump Tweets at the drop of a hat. Where is he? #WheresDonald

IIRC, the march for life typically goes along the mall and ends at SCOTUS, which is up by the capitol and not anywhere near the Lincoln Memorial. I don’t remember where the march starts, but I think it’s down by the Washington Monument. Either way, the march goes entirely in the opposite direction, away from the Lincoln Memorial.

Actually some of us have been looking for more video for two days and your narrative that these poor oppressed white Catholic bros were chosen to be harassed just for their choice in headgear simply doesn't comport with reality.

Actually some of us have been looking for more video for two days and your narrative that these poor oppressed white Catholic bros were chosen to be harassed just for their choice in headgear simply doesn't comport with reality.

In case you missed it, here's the full video.

youtube.com/watch?v=t3EC1_gcr34

If you're serious about truth and justice, view these parts of the video. Then tell me the Covington kids are the problem...

** Warning: Very profane and vulgar language in the video **
8:39

11:45

29:20

32:00 - 40:00 - The Black Israelite group with more horrible hate speech.

38:18 - Calls out a kid

49:00 - Starts insulting more kids

1:11:00 - Kids are sitting down no where near the Native American group.
1:12:00 - Native American group clearly approaches the kids who were showing school spirit with their chants. They pause for a moment and then continue walking all the way into the group and the kids step back to allow him in which makes it look as if the kids "are surrounding him".

Also notice that there was no violence. These are kids waiting for a bus to go home. It's ridiculous to focus on this incident when there are very real and serious hate groups such as Antifa that wreak daily havoc on our society.

Direct quote from one of the students :
Source: Videos show Covington Catholic students taunting Native Americans in D.C.

"Every year, my school attends the March for Life in DC and afterward tours the city. Our chaperones and teachers told us to be at the Lincoln Memorial at 5:30 to be ready for the buses to pick us up. 5:30 came around and we were all gathered at the Memorial. As we are an all-male school that loves to get hyped up (hence our cheer section's name, "Colonel Crazies"), and as we have done for years prior, we decided to do some cheers to pass time. In the midst of our cheers, we were approached by a group of adults led by Nathan Phillips, with Phillips beating his drum. They forced their way into the center of our group. We initially thought this was a cultural display since he was beating along to our cheers, and so we clapped to the beat. He came to stand in front of one of my classmates who stood where he was, smiling and enjoying the experience. However, after multiple minutes of Mr. Phillips beating his drum directly in the face of my friend (mere centimerers from his nose), we became confused and started wondering what was happening. It was not until later that we discovered they would incriminate us as a publicity stunt. As a result, my friend faces expulsion for simply standing still and our entire school is being disparaged for a crime we did not commit. To reiterate, we did not partake in any physical or verbal abuse, did not chant "build the wall" or mock or anything of the like, and did not seek to incite violence."

Personally, this all seems a bit too perfect both in timing (regarding the wall effort) and to fit the narrative the radical left (socialist democrats) would like to portray that white male Christians are the problem.

I've seen no one (including President Trump) spread more hate or be more divisive than the socialist democrats and MSM.

A smiling kid standing still in front of an Indian beating on a drum is worth 8 pages of arguments??

Unfortunately, It’s actually pretty serious. On social media, particularly Twitter, there are people threatening to dox the kid (post his personal info online including where he lives) for people to harass or worse show up at his door.

Also the school threw around the expulsion word which could really mess that kids life up as well.

It’s also in the news and the MSM is spinning it to promote hate and divisiveness between the American people.

I think we can all state with relative surety that if the tables had been turned, and some "antifa supersoldier" or whatever had done what these kids are accused of doing, the calls for judgment would ring from the mountains - including from the media. Since it's a bunch of entitled white kids in MAGA hats, we've instead seen a lot of hand wringing about how "doxxing is bad" and how terrible it is that these kids are being called out for their racism.

The double standard is sickening, and especially in the wake of August 12th.

The kid does look familiar but I can't quite place him. He reminds me of Joey Logano.

You have to wonder if this isn't one of the usual propaganda ploys to portray others of doing what they themselves do?

That’s actually something I would disagree with. First of all, if it were an Antifa member, based on previous Antifa actions, there would likely be violence/rioting involved. Secondly, I don’t believe it would be covered in MSM; maybe Fox News... maybe. Of course that’s all speculation based on previous actions of Antifa and I pray we don’t find out.

In addition, doxxing IS bad, regardless of who it’s against. It opens the doors to potential vigilantes inciting more violence. We pay our wonderful police and rely on our justice system for Earthly justice; and we know God is just.

I didn’t hear one racial slur in that video. Correction: I didn’t hear one racial slur from any of the MAGA kids. It sounds like confusion and perhaps ignorance (naive) are being confused with racism (hateful). Imagine minding your own business, waiting for your ride home from the “March for Life” and not only are extremely racist comments being shouted by black Hebrew Israelites but a group of Native Americans walk up to you, force their way into your group, walks directly up to you and bangs a drum in your face. You stand there smiling because you’re not sure what’s going on and you think this guy is going to move on but he doesnt. He continues to bang the drum in your face while his colleague tells another student that the white man stole their land. You come to the conclusion that this guy is messing with you because why would he walk his way into your group and plant himself in your face banging a drum? So you stand there smugly staring back. I struggle to see the racism there.

Gee...I didn't hear one racial slur from these people as they poured soda and food all over those sitting down. All they did was smugly stand there and yell at the people as they calmly sat there. I struggle to see the racism here. It just looked/sounded like confusion and perhaps ignorance (naive) to me.

What exactly was the lie?

Saying it doesn't make if a fact, you need to back up your accusations, just as you need to back up the one about Trump.

>> what the OP just did, as in basically stating trump condoned this action without validating the fact, <<

That is a lie. I don't appreciate you lying about me.

What is that "Trumpism", from the post you brought to our attention? And why did you bring that to our attention?

The guy who got in Mr. Phillips face speaks out.
Enquirer - Cincinnati and Kentucky

He claims that he was frozen with fear and confusion. I thought he was a heroic white warrior standing up to a scary brown man beating a war drum.

First I’ll say that I hate that that happened and I hate that it continues to happen. That being said...

I don’t understand what you’re trying to prove with that image. Are you comparing a still photo from likely over a half century ago when racism was, very regrettably, prevalent to a video of today? Are you presuming that there weren’t racial slurs while that action was taken? Are you comparing the peaceful woman with the man intimidating a boy by banging a drum in his face?

I'm saying that the portion quoted above is like criticizing a shooting victim because he got in the way of the shooter's bullet.

Viral Video Shows MAGA Hat-Wearing Teens Harassing Native American Vietnam Veteran

>> One teen, in particular, is seen blocking Philips, smugly staring at the elder as he performs his song. Teens in the background appear to encourage the harassment. <<

>> Tom Lilly told the Owensboro Times the student seen wearing his school shirt made a “flippant remark” when he talked about land being stolen.

“Was that comment any more than a cynical remark? I hate for a kid to have made a flippant remark and get lumped in with Covington Catholic,” Lilly told the publication. “If the kid hadn’t had an Owensboro sweatshirt on it wouldn’t be an issue, but he did. He’s a good kid and I hate this.” <<

No Tom, he's not a good kid.

I wonder if Brietbart, Daily Caller, etc. will be reporting on this.

How about a friendly cat reporting on it?

This video was censored (bleeped) and ed**ed in compliance to the FCC Indecency Rule, and 47 CFR § 73.3999(b).
