I hope that's not it. I think if it turned out they were all dead, people would be disappointed. Don't you WANT it to be some weird island that has strange forces on it? The whole dead thing is to unoriginal, IMHO.

I still think it is a combination of "Fantasy Island" and "The Land That Time Forgot". It is so much better than the last incarnation of a plane crashing on an island. Can't remember the title but the similarities are there. Perhaps the ghost of Rod Serling is roaming the edges of the island's Twilight Zone.

Hello again, gentle people.

Earlier, I mentioned the three theories that TV Guide Online had about the show. It was on my Pocket PC. I've pasted the article for you guys to read. Enjoy.

[TV Guide Online][Insider]
Lost in Space?
for January 13, 2005

Since the plane-crash takeoff of ABC's Lost (Wednesdays, 8 P.M./ET), lots of theories have been floated to explain the mysterious occurrences on the survivors' new island home. However, only three are believable enough to fit in our overhead compartments (in other words, our brains). Which one flies with you? At the mid-season mark, we consider the evidence...

Everyone's dead.
Where but in heaven could wheelchair-bound Locke take a hike? And hello?! Jack's late dad looked pretty spry for a dead guy. What's more, the prominence of black and white rocks is likely a Biblical reference, to Urim and Thummim, holy stones that turned any day into one of the judgment variety. Then again, why were unlucky stiffs "Adam and Eve" rotting while everyone else is merely tanning? And if she'd already croaked, how did that woman we never met manage to drown? Perhaps this island of lost souls isn't the end of the line but rather a rest-stop purgatory on which sinners like prodigal son Jack are sent to mend fences with the Almighty before passing through His pearly gates — or die (again) trying.

It's a government conspiracy.
The fact that Lost is the brainchild of Alias creator J.J. Abrams makes this hypothesis almost too obvious. However, if the multitasking TV mogul isn't planning a crossover in which we learn that the supposedly defunct SD-6 is to blame for that fateful plane crash (and every shocking incident that has followed), some country still could have elected to turn our heroes into its own personal ant farm. Think about it: Every conceivable need can be met by a member of this "random" group. Doctor? Yep. Hunter? Yep. Mr. Fix-It-type electronics whiz? Yep. Coincidence? No way! Plus, the sabotage of Sayid's attempt to track the distress signal means that someone (read: Big Brother) wants the gang to remain stranded.

They're on Mars.
Before scoffing, remember that Abrams ended Felicity with a plot involving both time travel and witchcraft. Besides, only in a galaxy far, far away could an airliner's nosedive inflict so many minor boo-boos. And even in the cosmos, a nonfatal touchdown would require a tractor beam so powerful, it would be the envy of Vulcan. (Keep in mind: The plane fell so fast, passengers hit the roof — literally; that ain't normal.) In addition, the polar bear and mystery monster scream "ETs playing Mother Nature" — and taking miscues from the comic book found in the wreckage. Therefore, it follows that the whispers Sayid heard that drove Frenchwoman Danielle nuts were being made by little green men. Forget Alias' Sloan; this is the handiwork of The Simpsons' Kang and Kodos!

I agree on not spoiling it, but you could use the spoiler tags as well.

Nonetheless this was a great episode and hate that we got to watch reruns until "Homecoming" airs.

I wait to post until the next morning.

Claire is back, Walt has some special ability.( I believe the island is making this ability even stronger) The black rock?
Another Polar bear? One polar bear might be able to be explained as being
transported in the hold(kind of large though). But 2?

They also have not thought about this. They now have a wounded polar bear in the woods. This makes it alot more dangerous. It will kill anything that gets close, and will venture into the camp to kill. As it's natural fear will be overwelmed by pain.

They didn't mention the metal "thing" they found, this show.
They started to gather stuff for building a raft.(Gilligan will probably wreck it though, oh,sorry, wrong show)

WHY Reruns! They make 2 shows and go into reruns!
If this continues the show will lose alot of viewers.
Does it take weeks to make one show?

Does anyone know where I can read summaries of all the past shows? I've been watching for about a month now, but I'd love to catch up on the parts of the story that I missed.

Hi HeatherJay! If you want recaps of the shows you've missed, I heartily recommend going here: http://www.televisionwithoutpity.com/show.cgi?show=136 (Thanks for the TAR gift, by the way - you are so sweet!)

Anyhoo, I am a new convert to Lost. I was hooked by the recaps on Television Without Pity - and after reading all the exhaustive recaps thus far I watched my first episode last night. I know between here and the TAR thread I sound like a TWoP advertisement, but let me tell you - I feel like I've been watching all season, the recaps are that good. Now they have a new guy recapping Lost and he's not quite as funny as the first guy, but I digress....

Okay. So. Walt has some sort of powers he can use to conjure up animals? He caused the bird at his house to fly in to the window because he was reading a bird book (and no one was paying attention to him, I think that's significant)? And now, twice, polar bears have popped up after he's looked at that comic book. Hmm. I really hope Michael doesn't continue to try to build that raft, I have a bad feeling about that. Or else maybe Sayid can McGyver up a motor from the plane parts, who knows?

Here's what I think. I think anyone who was "normal" are the ones who died in the plane crash. Think about it - so far every one of them has some tragic/mysterious/criminal type backstory. That's got to be part of the story. I also had thoughts of the island being a kind of Island of Dr. Moreau type thing, but who or what is Dr. Moreau? **Sorry, USincognito, does this speculation count as a spoiler you'd rather not see?**

I do know one thing - the writers are building this up so wonderfully, I really hope the final outcome is not disappointing. I'm still mad at the writers of St. Elsewhere, LOL. :)

Did they replay all the episodes thus far over the December break? I'll definitely be buying this when the season comes out on DVD, but I wouldn't mind actually seeing what I've read about! Does anyone know what episode is repeating next week?

Oh! One more thing! I really think last night's show went past 9:00 - I taped it and it cut off right as Charlie was sitting alone at the end. So, Claire came back? Anything more to it than that?

Nope, that was it. Locke and Boone were out looking for the dog, blowing the dog whistle (the one that Boone said he thought was broken. I think the blonde from Shannon is rubbing off). They hear something moving in the forest, thinking it's either another scary creature or Vincent...and out walks Claire, looking pretty worn out and bedraggled. That's where it ended.

Didn't think about it,
Claire came to the dog whistle?
Not saying she is a dog, but they were only talking in normal voices until they heard her.
Could this be something?
With this show nothing is beyond the realm of possiblity.

I think you could be on the right track. Not magical powers but something ties them together. Locke was a paraplegic, Walt has somekind of powers, Jack was transporting his Fathers body back, Charlie a bandmember trying to be someone,
Claire a furture mother with a stalker, Michael wants to be a father, Sawyer wants to be good, They all have reasons to survive. Unfinished business.

I don't think it showed her belly...all I noticed was her dirty face and how scared she looked. Poor girl.

LOL, and shame on Charlie for reading her diary, BUT in that kind of situation, how could you NOT read it??? I mean, she's pregnant, disappears suddenly, missing for a week, writes all her thoughts and dreams down...do you think MAYBE it might lend a clue as to what happened to her??? LOL, I just really thought that part was rather silly. Hehe...Sawyer's starting to grow on me, jerk though he may be. "Sawyer, you didn't read it, did you!?!? LOL, well, whoop-dee-doo, Miss Robbed-a-Bank-Shot-the-guy-I-love Felon! :D:D
