Hi ^_^
Im on the pill and it was ok till 2 years ago, when i started gaining weight (i started getting a lot more hungry - and eating more snacks/puddings). Before that though i was eating 1 pudding a week, 1 sweet a week (eg - choc bar) and i had one or 2 milkshakes and generally lived of burgers, fruits and other meals and was fine.
Im trying to get back into that habit now and have managed 5 days so far, but when i taste that first bar of chocolate i go into overdrive and give up! (i did it once before).

I love my chocolate, but i need to lose a little weight (about 1 stone) i dont feel good, i felt better when i was 9st, just my ideal weight. im only a little bit overweight i need to be 9 stone again. Diets dont work on me, i hate them.

Has anyone got advice? im moderatley active, i walk for 40 minutes each day (to and from uni) i do 40 sit ups and 10 press ups (im trying to get into TA- British part time army) When not on pill i lose weight quicker.

sorry if im waffling (please pray for me if youre a christian) :sorry:

I have a weight problem due to illness now everyone says that but truly i have had brain surgery which caused me to become without balance. All i need to do is stand up from sitting or lying and i am falling over, i cant walk for long periods or do many exercises involving my body going up and down eg sit ups etc. I spend most of my time at home unless someone can take me out and be with me all the time. If anyone has any ideas or can pray for me please do if i lose my balance it can make me vomit. I am also retaining fluid but i am pretty sure this is because of the weight problem, if i could lose the weight the fluid would also subside. Please pray for me. lisajane :groupray:

I agree that weights are the way to go! People always think that cardio is the only way to lose fat, but the more muscle mass you have, the more calories you burn, and the more fat you'll lose. You don't have to do a ton of it to see good effects either. Take baby steps and you'll be surprised by what you see in the mirror in 2 months.

All the situps in the world will not do for you what 3x45 mins a week of a good free weight lifting program will do for you.

I just wanted to say good luck. I gained weight while I was on the pill. I just had a baby and am now about to start the pill again. I am worried that I will not be able to lose my extra baby weight because of the pill. Wish me luck.

You could always try a different contraceptive device. Best Wishes.

Get a swiss ball!!!

(Thanks for the rep points fitmom!!!!)
I would give you a rep. but I have to wait! Yes indeed, a swiss ball will help with most of the concerns jellybrain has about weight gain, but will not solve her 'other' problem?????????? J

Good luck! :D (talk to your doctor he/she may be able to suggest a method of weight loss)

As reply to other posts - the uterine device? i think thats dangerous, but then again im not happy taking the pill at all. i only do it for my boyfreind (although pill used to be fine till two years ago) if we split up, i'd stop the pill in a moment (we cant use certain "other" methods because, well.....never mind)

And weight lifting - Jellybrain doesnt want to gain lots of muscles!! Jellybrain is only a small wee girl. But thanx.

However, running, i found out on tuesday is the way to go hopefully (i have to learn to do 40 situps, 40 pressups and 1.5 miles of running - in less than 12 minutes- to get my annual "bounty" bonus pay in TA also that is the requirement to stay. but they make us run about 3 miles every tuesday:eek: - i did my first on tuesday and i was very tired, but felt good about it)

Sometimes i wish i had a lot of money and a large garden - id get a trampoline a huge trampoline!! :D

Thank you again so far.

(whats a swiss ball?)

A swiss ball is a very big ball that you can do toning exercises on, and I've even taken classes where you can do bouncy aerobic exercises on them. Very fun.

You might want to reconsider lifting weights. I lost 120 pounds. I honestly don't think I would have been able to do it as fast as I did had it not been for lifting weights. I have a small frame too. Lifting has not made me look bulky at all. I look lean and firm. And having muscles helps burn the fat faster!

Good Luck!

A rep. point for you! Excellent post. Serenity is absolutely right. Woman cannot bulk up with regular weight training ~ not enough testosterone! And the more lean mass (muscle) the higher your metabolic rate SOOOOOOO, you burn more calories, even at rest Yahooooooooooo! Strength training is real groovy, and so is the SWISS BALL. J

I'm having issues with my weight too. My problem is when I want to lose weight, I want to lose it quick. I get so impatient. For example when I hear that a diet or some form of exercise will help me lose 5 pounds in a month, it really discourages me. I'd like to lose 5 punds a week!!!! I don't want any kind of eating disorder, but other than that option, does anyone know a good way to lose weight fast?

From what I know, the faster you lose weight, the harder it is to keep it off. Unfortunatly, the slow way is the easiest and also the safest. And you should have a good plan that lets you eat well balanced meals so it's easy to maintain your weight loss once you reach your goal. When I was losing weight, I usually lost 2 lbs a week. Believe me, those 2 lbs. add up quick! And it's exciting to see the weight come off. Good luck!

Stick with a pound a week which equates to a 500 calorie deficit a day. Rapid weight loss consumes more then fat... it strips away lean muscle mass as well. If your serious about changing your bodies composition long term, slow and easy is the only way to go. Miracle diets don't exist despite what all the celebrity infomercials tell you. It is my personal opinion that diet alone never works and is only a short term "illusionary" solution. There has to be a lifestyle change that accompanies it... you can't trick your body into thinking it isn't under "stress" during a forced diet. You have to give your body a reason to remain in shape. If you walk 5 miles a day your body doesn't want to carry an extra 50 pounds... its energetically inefficient to do so and breaks down our joints. The friends that I have know who've made large changes did so without ever feeling hungry or energy deprived during their weight loss stint. Give your body a reason to drop its bodyfat percentages and it will automatically do so. The body is a pretty amazing machine with all its feedback loops. Get ACTIVE and give it a reason to change its own composition percentages mate!
