Serenity and Fallen are right. Excellent posts, and losing 1.5 -2 lbs. of fat/week is VERY rewarding. As you ad lean muscle through a balanced strength program, the scales may fool you, but your body composition is changing. Just keep on moving forward, you will fell so Groovy, God Bless,J

That makes sense, and was very encouraging. Thanks.

So, let's say I become more active. What kind of foods do I eat in order to help my weightloss. I realize lay off the junkfood/fast food. But i also know that the "no carb" thing isn't that great either. So, what kind of foods should I use to cook with. What kind of measurements/ proportions?

We don't talk about "weight loss" Elisabeth... remember? We talk about dropping body fat percentages. We want to hold onto every single gram of lean muscle we can as muscle = strength and we don't want to lose ANY strength. The experts on body fat reduction and diet are competitive bodybuilders... but what they've learned everyone else can benefit from, you don't necessarily have to take it to the extremes ranges that they do.

Food wise stick with:

1. quality proteins
2. nutrient dense
3. low glycemic and simple sugars
4. unrefined and high fiber
5. quality healthy fats

Start reading labels and educating yourself nutritional wise. You'd be surprised how much sugar is added to EVERYTHING these days.

Combine diet with strength training, LSD (low slow distance) fat buring sessions with some HIIT (high intensive interval training) ^_^ to keep the home fires burning brightly. Your trying to keep your metabolic rates elevated and not switching over to the "diet" starvation mode where everything slows down in an effort to preserve calories and fat stores.

If your really trying to drop percentages in a hurry mild metabolic stimulants can be used such as green tea's, ginger, caffeine, and a host of others but the side ffects can be not to pleasant. You have to talk to your doctor before using ANY stimulants though as some can be quite dangerous when combined with other drugs. In my own case I'm taking some medication which decreases my bodies ability to regulate its temperature... so taking a strong stimulant like ephedra in combination with high intensive exercise can result in potentially life threatening conditions for myself.

This is a great post, but I think you mean complex sugars? Such as complex carbohydrates? The simple sugars in some fruit are good, but simple sugars are usually refined. The glycemic index is a good place to learn about sugars and their source.
Great post Fallen, I may have to hire you as my new assistant? J
