• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I know that there have been previous threads on this, but.....

I'll be starting lithium 600mg on Saturday, and I was wondering, are there any immediate side effects that I should look for? And how much liquid did/do those of you have to drink per day while taking it?

And, apparently I will still be on Lamictal while I am on lithium as well... has this happened to anyone? and if so, did it work okay or were there problems of some sort?

Sorry for all the questions. :sorry:

I am still on lithium... 900 mg to be exact. When I first started I had dry mouth a lot, so keep a bottle of water around just in case. I drink a lot of water anyway, so I never changed that. But in case you don't... I would suggest you start drinking as much as you can.

The only side effect that has been a drawback was the weight gain. I went from 125lbs to 160!!!! I can't stand it. But the lithium has helped a great deal.

I am suppose to go on to lamicatal, but I haven't done it yet. The rash things scares me. I have it too. Just haven't started it.

Anyway... good luck to you and many blessings.

I've been trying to push my fluid intake up to 8 cups... but this past week it hasn't gotten above 6, lowest at 3. So.... that needs to change. :-S

I really hope that it helps. The Lamictal has kept me from being suicidal (I'm at the highest dose, 400mg), but it hasn't stopped the nightly crashes, and they really get out of hand sometimes.
