There are very few of us left who are true, Bible believing conservative Christians. Just in living life and looking around I put the number at less than 10% of the population. (I'm 62 years old).

I am blessed to work at a company full of conservatives, many with Bibles on their bookshelves or scripture on their walls of their offices.

Wow! This means that 90% of the population needs Christ. We have a lot of work to do. We need to use our talents for God and try to get them converted because Christ died for them or He will call us unfruitful and cast us into hell.

Luke 10:2
Then He said to them, “The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.

John 15
“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.

Mark 16:15
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Hi Softly,

You asked: What do you call the Christians who twist or make light of the Bible to suit their needs so that they can protect themselves from feeling convicted for their sins?

Liars.

God bless you.
In Christ, Ted

I do not in any way attempt to condemn anyone lest I might condemn myself also. No one is perfect and I am still trying to get beyond myself and my personal beliefs to obey and follow Jesus, because that's what a Christian is. So, I pray for forgiveness everyday and thank God every morning for another opportunity to do the right things. Please forgive my tone, but if we read the scrpitures carefully, from the Old Testament and throughout the New Testment God has been warning and disciplining His children over and over again for not obeying His commands. Jesus warned His disciples of dangers of hell, if they disobey His commands. He was not talking to the sinners. He only offered the sinners hope because they do not know better and cannot do better because they are bound by sin and are waiting for us to offer them deliverance through Christ Jesus. He later reminded us of of what role we need to play in this world "or else" in Revelations, and that we should get it right before He returns.
Read Matthew 25; Revelations 1,2 and 3. I try my best to only repeat what Jesus has stated because He said that the Holy Spirit will remind us of His teachings.
I believe that every Christian (followers of Jesus Christ) should carefully read His teachings in Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1, and Revelations. God has assigned Him to Judge the Christians in the last day.

John 12:48-50
48 He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him—the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day.

2 Corinthians 5:10
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
Matthew 5:22
But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca!’ shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of hell fire.

No, it means 90% of the population are not CONSERVATIVE Christians. I am a non conservative Christian, but I don't need converted by you or anyone else, I am saved (I might add not by any mere human being, but by the Holy Spirit!)

WOW! I see a lot of self righteous people here.
You can not be righteous, but through God, yet, people are puffing up their chests about how much better they are than other people...
Makes me sad,
"For those who are first, shall be last...Those who are last, shall be first.
BTW, do not question my faith, it will get you no where.

There is only one type of Christian. A Christian is a disciple of Jesus Christ. By definition, a disciple is a follower; one who accepts and assists in spreading the doctrines of another. The word disciple was derived from the word discipline, which means to submit to the control of a set of standard rules and regulations. In other words, a person must reject his personal beliefs and accept another. The disciples were first called Christians at Antioch. (Acts 11:26) They were called Disciples of Christ before they were called Christians. The word “Christian” was derived from the name “Christ” as “American” came from America. The name “Christian” qualifies what flock and leader we belong to, or follow. It tells the world and other religions who we belong to and what we believe. To be a Christian disciple means to act like Christ; think like Christ, walk and talk like Him, and do what He did. When people look at me, they should see Christ in me. We all have heard that saying; “he’s the splitting image of his father”. Remember, in the beginning, God created man in His own image and likeness. Christ came to this earth to restore that image. Attending church regularly, wearing a white collar and being involved in Christian-like activities or dressing in a robe does not indicate that a person is a Christian. Those outward actions could indicate that a person is religious like in many other religious groups.
A person cannot be a Christian if he/she is not a disciple of Christ because the name “Christian” denotes a “Christ-follower”. A person cannot follow Christ if he does not desire to go and to do what Christ did, and to have love and compassion for all people as Christ did. Christians have a special allegiance to Christ that would be understood by a military personnel or a member of a gang, as far as understanding what commitment is.

John 14:12
12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.

According to the 1998 United Nations Census on Religion, there were at that time, about 23,000 Christian denominations in the world and they all differ somewhat. A divided house will never stand (ineffective).

God has given us different gifts and abilities so that we could work together (collaborating) thus producing unity of the body. Ephesians 4:11-13

There is only one Lord, faith, baptism; Ephesians 4:4-6; One doctrine – John 7:15-17; 2 John 1:9.

Are there really any good old fashioned conservative Christians out there anymore? If so, I want to find you! lol. I am so sad to see the Christian population has become so liberal in their morals, thinking etc....

I agree and share your concerns. I meet lots of 'Christians' but they espouse unbelievably left wing views on issues like abortion, sex, the multi-faith movement etc. Really worries me.

Well you are a conservative Christian, so I'm sure its not rocket science!
Your statement is absolutely unclear, your meaning is obscured, are you afraid or something? As for what I am I am a human being who has surrendered to Christ and died in the process. I don't know what sort of baloney you are talking about and rocket science has nothing to do with your statement.

Whatever you think, because you must be right

Actually it is what you say and do not what someone thinks.

I attend a church full of conservatives and know of several others across Texas. :)
