  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don't have to pray about it to come to the conclusion you have, I just have to listen to the door knockers.
Well, I can't force you to go to God with this. I wish you would. Find out what He wants.

Prayer and Bible Study is a good thing.

Jehovah's witnesses pray too. So you don't want to answer the verse I gave you, and you change to topic. Thats clever.

here it is again since you avoid Matthew 25:41 like the plague.

Matt. 25:41, "Then He will also say to those on His left, ‘Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal (aionion) fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels;"

the key word is aionion, meaning eternal. His wrath is never satisfied in this case. Thats the wrong word to use if your wrath was only temporary.

Hi Gradyll,
The effects are eternal, but if you look more closely at the Rev 20 text, its only the beast, false prophet, the devil (and the fallen angels) that would be tortured forever in the lake of fire. Their rebellion was unique. It simply states after that those names who were not found in the book of life were also thrown in, but says nothing of the duration. After that, I believe comes annihilation.
There is one text which could suuggest non stop torment is in rev 14 and the qualifying condition is those who had worshipped the beast and received the mark. That would also constitute 'rebellion'.

I answered it, check post 11.

You claim that I avoid answering, but I don't. Here is the post:
Timothew said:
Eternal punishment does mean eternal. I never said eternal punishment doesn't actually mean eternal. It just doesn't mean eternal conscious torment. Eternal Death is also an eternal punishment. So your verse does nothing to disprove conditional immortality.
The eternal fire consumes whatever is put into it, so it is a perfect illustration of annihilationism.

You brought up the millenium, not me. So quit your complaining about it.
I said a thousand years not millenium. But millenium means a thousand, but that word technically isn't in the Bible.
They will be tossed in before the millennium
You brought up the millennium, then you complained that I answered you on the millenium.

If you really think that you are right with God on this then why do you use such manipulative arguments? I think it is a reflection how deep down inside you know you are not.

Annihilation is a one shot deal, it does not go on at length.

Also, where does the Bible speak of annihilation of the spirit? Annihilation of the soul is referred to repeatedly, but the spirit is never included in this.

Many misunderstand what Jesus meant, by what he said here…Matt.5:29- (this scripture didn’t mean a fiery place, God never created one).

Matthew 5:21-23 ,(fire destroys this is why Jesus uses it, he and his Father knows human’s understand this. If one does research on the word hell. One who see how it originates. Yet many refuse to do this, instead they would rather follow a lie taught by their minister. Who either don’t understand themselves, or like one would say…”I’m not changing my teaching” sad!

Matt.25:41- Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels, (if hell suppose to be a place where demons reside, and wicked dead are tortured. then why did Jesus say an everlasting fire would be waiting for them? Because he means total destruction, since fire totally destroys things)!

Jehovah NEVER said those who die will go to a burning place he sent demons. First… he didn’t tell the first couple that if they sin, they’ll burn eternally. He said they will surely or positively DIE!,(Gen.2:16-18). God’s words even show once we die,we’re FREE from our sins. Because our death pays for our sins. (Rom.-6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. And Rom.6:7 -For he that is dead is freed from sin).

So why in the world would ANYONE believe teachings of God punishing someone’s “SOUL” when he’s basically saying they’re forgiven for their sins? And why would ANYONE wants to believe they’re so self-righteous, that if there was a fiery place for sinners, they wouldn’t be first in line? We ALL are sinners, be-it Christians, witnesses, unbelievers, and anybody else. IF…there was a fiery place, NONE of us can say for sure we wouldn’t be there.

And if MANY kept it real with themselves, they KNOW they would be in that line. Sitting up in their places of worship acting all Godly. , when they’re doing abominating things behind close doors, As if “Jesus” can’t see!

Psa.16:8-11, Psa.139:8, Jonah 2:1,2 -these men of the God of Israel, speaks of hell. And neither one speaks of burning! David talks his “ flesh also shall rest in hope“ hell wouldn’t be a place of rest…remember? He also said…‘if I make my bed in hell’ he’s referring to sleep, but not in the since of what we know. He means death.

IF hell were a fiery place of eternal torture, he wouldn’t be sleep, or dead. And there’s no demons or fire in the fish belly where Jonah was.
Basically any place where there’s dead bodies, that’s hell, Which is ONLY a grave. If Jonah had die there, it would have been his grave. So To be in eternal, or everlasting hellfire, as the demons is said to soon be ONLY mean total destruction. The demons will soon be no more, as with those who God decides never to bring back ,(Pro. 2:22 But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it). peace :)

how does the controversy regarding the thousand years make it any less than a thousand years that the beast and the false prophet were suffering in revelation 20?

It would not be considered eternal if flesh and body were consumed. By the way the body isn't thrown in yet it's just the soul burning, so how can it be that a non physical object is consumed in the flames? It can't, so you need to try again and answer that verse.

Secondly,
the fire didn't consume the beast and the false prophet for over a thousand years in revelation 20.

thirdly, you need to provide examples of why my arguments are manipulative and not just blindly accuse the brethren.

Finally, a post that makes some LOGICAL SENSE... exposing the DECEPTION and FALLACY of "Hell"!

It is so VERY unfortunate that the MAJORITY of Christianity -- Matt 7:22-23 -- Matt 24:5 -- brings to the WORLD that GOD SO LOVES, ...a fork-tongued message which then has the audacity to entitle said message, the "Gospel" (good news)!

Which is presented by them: ...witnessing to "UNBELIEVERS", that God "LOVES" them so deeply no human can really understand or comprehend the depth of that LOVE (and then -- if said "UNBELIEVER" does not "believe" by accepting this "ORTHODOX witness", ...lo and behold, the FORK of DECEPTION, immediately appears)... which then SAYS:

HOWEVER... if said "UNBELIEVER" doesn't accept the OTHRODOX testimony, and thereby BELIEVE in God (as THEY outline) and FOLLOW God (as THEY outline)...

He will then ENDLESSLY torture said "UNBELIEVER", on a HEINOUS and UNMERCIFUL basis that FAR EXCEEDS anything that HITLER or any and ALL other human beings have EVER COLLECTIVELY accomplished toward other men! ...

Matter of fact... HELL (as presented by ORTHODOXY) so FAR exceeds the TOTALITY that ALL MEN have ever COLLECTIVELY done to ALL other men... --- Is just unto that ONE "UNBELIEVER"!

IOW... take the TOTALITY of the deceptive tormenting, criminal, compassionless and mercilessness of MEN, ...and by COMPARISON, ...The proposal of HELL being administered forever, exceeds that TOTAL, more than the space of ONE INCH is EXCEEDED by the entirety of the UNIVERSE!

ALL the SICK evil of men in its totality, is NOTHING compared to HELL forever, ...NOTHING!

How more sorrowfully, SICK can a message be?????

What kind of "witness" of GOD (which calls Himself LOVE -- 1 John 4:8) is this? Could it be more DISTORTED, ILLOGICAL, and NEGATIVE? No... it could NOT!

Oh yeah, ...again, ...Good Job, JoJo...

May the JOY of the TRUE GOSPEL of Peace -- Eph 6:15 -- Rom 10:15 -- forever, ...be unto you!! ... :groupray:

Not so... ^_^ ...not so at all! :sorry:

And if one truly has gained ones OWN BELIEFS by bothering to RESEARCH what the WORD actually SAYS (instead of swallowing the tainted "feed" given them by the divided sections of "orthodoxy"), ...then no "support" of other "SINNERS" is at all, necessary, anyhoo... ^_^

Jo Jo didn't answer the mathew verse She just said she didn't believe,.

Who cares what other Christians believe, that shouldn't matter.

It matters what the Bible actually says.

Matt. 3:12 says, "And His winnowing fork is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clear His threshing floor; and He will gather His wheat into the barn, but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire." (See also Luke 3:17.)

Mark 9:43 says, "And if your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life crippled, than having your two hands, to go into hell, into the unquenchable fire." The word "unquenchable" is asbestos in the Greek. According to the enhanced Strong's lexicon, it means "unquenchable, the eternal hell fire to punish the damned."

The following citations are from Greek dictionaries and Lexicons. They show that the word "unquenchable," which is asbestos in the Greek, (which occurs only in Matt. 3:12, Luke 3:17, and Mark 9:43) means unquenchable, without end.

"unquenchable, inextinguishable"2
"not quenched"3
"pertaining to a fire that cannot be put out" - "unquenchable."4
"unquenched, unquenchable"5
"that cannot be put out"6
"inextinguishable"7

Is hell eternal? Yes it is. Are its fires without end? Yes they are. Is it a pleasant doctrine to discuss? Not really. But, hell is real. This is all the more reason to preach the gospel. Jesus said,

Absolutely!

I agree, it DOES matter what the Bible actually SAYS... But REASON must be an INTEGRAL part of understanding which is TRUE -- Isaiah 1:18 -- and HELL has no REASON or LOGIC to it whatsoever...

What is accomplished by it, gradyll? What justice is found in it gradyll? What MERCY is found in it gradyll? Where, in HELL, ...is PAIN and SORROW become "passed away" -- Rev 21:4 -- gradyll?

You my friend, are (typically) presupposing that YOUR observation, is what the Bible "ACTUALLY SAYS"... ^_^ ...and IN THAT, presupposing that the observation which JoJo takes is NOT (by using YOUR VIEW as the measure of HERS), what that Bible "ACTUALLY SAYS"...

Please! ^_^ Start with a fallible method (maintaining that your view is what the "Bible actually SAYS"), and you shall SURELY, come to a fallible conclusion.

FIRST -- ADDRESSING the words "ETERNAL" (everlasting & forever)

You (nor does anyone else, including me) ...have no right to use the word ETERNAL (let alone apply it to any other finite person, you being finite yourself), as you do not COMPREHEND its meaning. So any applications you make to any other FINITE are invalid, as you do not understand the term you use.

The words "everlasting, eternal and forever" include in definition -- WITHOUT BEGINNING.

Until you can CLEARLY explain HOW anything (including GOD) is without beginning, then you use these words INVALIDLY, as you do not COMPREHEND them nor their meaning.

SECOND -- The FIRE you suggest to be "ETERNAL" which is "UNQUENCHED", does not continue endlessly -- Jude 6 -- concerning the FIRE [PUR] ...of Sodom & Gomorrah

(1) started (which disqualfies it from being ETERNAL) once was not burning.

(2) ended (which disqualifies it from being ETERNAL) no longer burning.

The same word in -- AIONIOS -- translated ETERNAL, in -- Jude 6 -- appears in the above proposed verses.

"UNQUENCHED" means that it shall not be EXTINGUISHED (which is what "asbestos" presents), until the purpose of the FIRE is FULFILLED... GOD is about creating MAN in His own IMAGE... which is yet to be fulfilled. Until it is, and ALL have been processed, the FIRE (of time) -- 1 Cor 3:11-15 -- Mark 9:44-49 -- shall continue to bring IN THAT PROCESS, ...suffering, teaching and death... which are ALL part of the process -- Heb 2:10 -- Rom 9:21 -- 1 Cor 15:22, 42-50 -- Isaiah 26:9

GOD is a CONSUMING FIRE. -- Heb 12:29 -- ANYTHING which is CONSUMED, is NO LONGER existent. The CHAFF is that which is CONSUMED, ...and which is an INHERENT part of the WHEAT!

THIRD -- Ask ANY farmer about "wheat and chaff", bro... ^_^...they are 2 components of the SAME entity! Just as the KNOWLEDGE of GOOD and EVIL are 2 components of the SAME KNOWLEDGE.

FOURTH -- the Word used in your above verses (Matt. 3:12, Luke 3:17, and Mark 9:43) is -- PUR -- #G4442 -- This word is used in both literal or figurative senses. However when it is applied in the SPIRIT, is no longer is FINITELY literal, for it enters into the realm of the SPIRIT. HELL is nothing but fleshly stagnation incorporated in the observation of the WORD...

There are many examples of PUR used in the NT:

(1) which is the same word used in -- Rev 20:15 -- Lake of FIRE...

(2) which is ALSO the same word used in -- Mark 9:44-49 -- concerning FIRE applied to EVERY MAN...

(3) which is ALSO the same word used in -- Rev 3:18 -- which FIRE tried the gold of CHRIST...

(4) which is ALSO same word is used in -- 1 Pet 1:7 -- which proposes that YOUR works will be tried in that SAME FIRE, Gradyll...

(5) which is ALSO the same word used in -- 1 Cor 3:11-15 -- which FIRE, saves the ONE which has been IN IT... which is EVERY MAN...

It AMAZES me, that "Hell" proponents... use the passage in -- Mark 9 -- to back their doctrine, ...and ALWAYS conveniently STOP at -- Mark 9:48! ^_^

For Mark 9:49 SAYS:

Mark 9:49 -- for EVERY ONE shall be salted with ...FIRE... [PUR] and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt.

The NEGATIVE obsession of the modern ORTHODOX church to take GOD's BELOVED ones, made in His own IMAGE -- John 3:16-17 -- and which CHRIST died for -- Rom 5:6 -- 1 Tim 2:6 -- is the existent and INIQUITOUS TONGUE of GEHENNA which is clearly CONDEMNED by the Apostle James -- James 3:6-10 -- as HYPOCRITICAL... and the undoing of the fountain of TRUTH. And James clearly SAYS: "OUGHT NOT SO TO BE!" :sigh:

Dire SHAME awaits the MANY ...which, in DECEPTION, preach this ugly and UNMERCIFUL doctrine, to God's (and CHRIST's) beloved children -- Matt 7:22-23 -- Matt 24:5 -- who are claiming they "come in His name", and yet preach INIQUITY... and are NOT KNOWN by Him, accordingly.

It is MUCH more IMPERITIVE for YOU to be "KNOWN" by CHRIST, then for HIM to "KNOWN", by you. -- Matt 7:23 -- "I never KNEW YOU"

Shall you hear His voice, gradyll? Or continue bringing this awful ("HELLISH") representation of LOVE to those you encounter, while upon the earth?

Peace... :groupray:

And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night Revelation 14:11 How do you explain away this verse?
Are you joking? they have no rest suspension of an execution, delay or cancellation of a death sentence; a brief respite: REST
