All I can say is, Marijuana is a plant that God said is good.

Let me just say this - how many men have you heard about drinking all night coming home and beating their wives and children?

In alternative - how many men have you heard smoking a joint coming home and beating their wives and children?

Which should be legal, and which shouldn't?

I have a hard time supporting the criminalization of God's creation, even in part, which is why I used the word "all". I certainly do understand why people are uncomfortable with the idea of "all".

My 2 cents? All drugs should be decriminalised and regulated. Yes, this WILL cause some new problems, but I believe it will solve more problems than it creates.
Exactly. Where are crooked politicians & cops gonna get their take?

My guess is environmental and industrial lobbiest will be the next big cash cows. But kind of hard to imagine Exxon, even on their worst day, giving a whole family Columbian neckties to avoid an investigation.

Here's an interesting documentary on Marijuana Prohibition, if anyone is interested. It is long, but very interesting and eye opening.

Google, "The Union"

I cannot post links yet apparently. sorry for late responses, I didn't want to ignore anyone, I kind of wanted to sit back and watch without injecting any of my own opinions.

Not that they're above it, it just isn't their market niche. That's what outsourcing & subcontracting are for.

I can smell somebodys cologne but i think it may be on their shoes.....

:)

This thread should have included a straw poll methinks...perhaosp the OP might want to edit one into it...?
Meantime,
there are some things about hemp that are bad for big business.....
Hemp clothes are the toughest, longest lasting, most comfy(after theyre washed)
clothes you can buy...
The denim types of fabric that is made from hemp is indestructable by normal wear...and just gets better each wash...
Medicines of many different types, can be produced from the oils, and other components of hemp...
Further it makes treeless paper of high quality....
with renewable source every season...
The fibers make excellent rope, and most rope pre nylon days was hemp rope.
The plant could also be used to produce synthetic fuel as well....
all in all, cannabis could threaten several different industries weve come to depend upon since 36....

besides making you want to bogey man....

they make hemp out of a type of cannabis that dosn't have any THC.. or other types of hemp plant, not related to cannabis.
The types of cannabis grown for the drug now, is much more potent than the strain used in the 60's .. and it contains less of the other chemicals, that help to cancel out the harmful effects of the drug.. it's more concentrated as THC.

It has THC alright, just not nearly as much as plant cultivated for that purpose. That is where the jokes about sailors smoking rope come from - rope used to be made of hemp as well as sailcloth, clothing & paper. It was cotton's only serious competition before the cotton kings engineered the prohibition legislation.

Municipal governments run liquor stores.

Ask a police officer how many violent/abusive/out of control drunks he has to deal with in any given period of time.

Then ask them how many violent pot smokers they've dealt with in the same period.

There's your answer. We let corporate CEOs pad their pockets and avoid jail or stay in the best jails while their actions have affected the lives of hundreds or more workers and families. Yet we put some pot smoking hippie in jail at taxpayer expense when he or she has done no damage to society?

That is wrong, and any "conservative" should be against it. Funny most of them aren't. Science and common sense provides that there is no cause for marijuana possession to be illegal among adults.

The theological issue as to if a Christian should smoke it, or indulge in alcohol, or to what extent, is a separate argument that should have nothing to do with the legality.
