So it has been shown that marijuana usage definitely has a bad effect on health. Therefore, I say that marijuana should not be legalized. And then, as a Catholic, I must take in to account what the Church says about drugs:

So, I am opposed to the legalization of marijuana unless it is used for strictly medical purposes.

Alcohol and cigarettes do far worse, would you also favor Re-prohibition of those drugs?

Doesn't it require more volume though (to cook it)?

Unless your talking about a vaporizer.

I'm not going to get too into it. lol. Yes, it does take more volume to make butter, but you can cook down everything. ie the stalks and leaves not just the buds so in that respect it doesnt really take more volume because the only parts of the plant you can really smoke are the buds. But this thread wasn't meant to be marijuana 101 so I'll stop there.

Me thinks the government doth protest too much over "the weed". Perhaps they do know how effective and cheap it would be to use it for reasonable medical treatment. Appears to me that the use of it has been going on long enough to prove that drug has positive benefits when monitored. I mean get a Ritalin rx and you can't have it called in, mailed to or emailed from a doctor's office. One has to go to the office and sign for the written rx before having it filled. It's rather a bit nuts IMHO

I did recently see an article about common drugs like Ritalin (meth), Zoloft and such and nearly choked when I saw how the rx rats are pushing these on our CHiLdren much less many of the adult population. It seems they offer a silver bullet for every malady they can create drugs for. Very convenient for the bucks and mind control of the population.

I have rambled and I'm only trying to say the government is cracking down on marijuana when it should be on all the drugs the FDA rubber stamp is letting go to market. According to the article the psychaitrist stated that these SSRIs are merely corking the original receptors so the brain is then creating new receptors so the person could be worse off then they know by taking these "mind alterting" drugs.

So yeah wage our war on drugs, get good officers injured or killed and blow our budget out of the water when some of the real "crooks" are considered legal peddlers somehow....

The medical prfession is an industry just like the cola corps....or car companies....
the more patients they see the more they make, the more drugs they push, the more they get in kickbacks....plus return visits...
It is the same in the mental health profession...without the patients there wouldnt be the huge slaries every year.
It is obvious that caring for the patient has taken second place to insuring a six figure income for the doctors.
I distrust those studies which proclaim so loudly the party line....
I distrust the goverment capable of egging the japanese to attack pearl harbour or manufacturing the gulf of tonkin incident sos they can get at the vietnam war big time....
911 was another power grab as was the oklahoma bombing....
since those incidents we have some of the most repressive legislation being passed by our reps without so much as reading it first....
democracy is to all intents and purposes dead in north america....
Those who fail to see the writing on the wall, are in for a shock..... but too late....
I am sick of the ones who keep crying it couldnt happen here, because it already has....
Ive seen the police riot and beat men women kids on the street, tear gas a theater full of women and children....ride their harlys up and down the sidewalks bowling people over left and right with no thought to their saftey or rights...(all this back in sixty eight for petes sake!)
Its been comming by increments for a long while, and now its here there are still idiots who cannot see what a shambles they have made of our rights and freedoms...
The goverment doesnt even obey their own laws...they do what they lik, and nobody has the strength to protest anymore.
New technology, like microwave weapons and other suvielance machines are in use now...
freedon of assembly is next to go...mark my warning because it may be you taking a night stick in the head, or your child...perhaps both...they have no regard for your person or property anymore.
The whole of north america is become a fascist state in all but name .
grace you are a voice crying in the wilderness...just dont become another Neda......
god bless you...

already been there. Picture this... a peaceful permitted protest of the war in Iraq in a small town in North Carolina. Families gathered around with their signs chanting. Everryone is in a serious yet happy mood doing their duty as americans, protesting what they see as injustices. A young man spits at a cop when he calls him hippy scum. Four police officers unleash on the kid and the surrounding crowd. They beat up and arrest the kid. In the process six people were hit by the police, including myself and my wife who was knocked to the ground holding our two year old daughter. Charges on the officers were dropped. The judge said we were getting in the way of the officers doing their job. The truth was we were trapped in between the crowd behind us and the officers rushing at us. I saw the cop smile right before he hit me in the gut with the ball end of his asp batton. These days the police are so protected they can get away with whatever they want. This wasnt 68. This was 2007.

Now nearly anything leads to impure thoughts(the average male thinks of sex as often as every seven minutes or less....)
Reading most novels leads to impure thoughts....
watching TV probably leads to the same more often than not!
I wasnt aware that masturbation was a sin.......where in the book does it say that?
(we arent talking of onanism here....)
How do we know for sure jesus didnt imbibe pot too?
It was available then...and was used as medicine as well as motivating assassins....
perhaps there are dishes that utilize pot in the middle east like there is in india.....
they make a sort of candy out of it there....

Don't want to think about the possible implications for the future after reading about your family's experience:o

The government shouldn't have the authority to make marijuana illegal.
Exactly!! Do I think smoking is morally wrong? yes, Should I use the gov't to force my morals on others? No! decriminalize it and let the weed users deal with God.

This is an excellent Christian perspective, imho!

My sentiments exactly.

Let us burn one from end to end,
And pass it over to me my friend.
Burn it long, we'll burn it slow,
To light me up before I go.

If you don't like my fire, then don't come around,
'cause I'm gonna burn one down.
Yes, I'm gonna burn one down.

My choice is what I choose to do,
And if I'm causing no harm, it shouldn't bother you.

Your choice is who you choose to be,
And if you're causin' no harm, then you're alright with me.

Herb the gift from the earth,
And what's from the earth is of Jah's greatest worth.
So before you knock it try it first,
Oh, you'll see it's a blessing and not a curse.

If you don't like my fire, then don't come around,
'cause I'm gonna burn one down

Got to love some Ben Harper.

Three thousand years ago, Moses told the childen of isreal..."pick up yer shovels, and pack up yer asses, light up yer torches..we`re headed for the pormised land!"
Three thousand years later Bill Clinton told them "throw down yer shovels, sit on yer asses, and light up a camel, this is the promised land!"
