  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I know for sure that they were written down by Paul. Both Paul and Peter were apostles who ate formerly forbidden foods with the Gentiles. There were also others that were not apostles that were former Jews under the Law.

As has been stated several rimes, this was not new, it was planned to be a new covenant. from the beginning.

(Jer 31:31) Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

The Levitical system was always temporary, it pointed to Jesus as the Lamb, and He became the High Priest for us. It was not a revocation but a fulfillment.

Yes that's where I was politely trying to go with that.

I could see maybe one small contridiciton to the Bible but so many. And big things, not just little stuff. It seems overwhelming to me that there are so many differences to believe that it is a further revelation from the same God. And the Bible is thorough. It's not like there are all these questions unanswered there or something. It is all in there.

This could answer could be quite long, but I'll go with the short and very honest answer here: upon thorough examination of the Bible, the world, logic, and prayer with God, I find Mormon teachings to be correct. I find very serious flaws with many teachings from other Christian branches, ultimately have come to assessment that they are false. That's not to say that all their beliefs are complete junk (FAR from it), or members of other faith's can't be good people doing their best to serve God, or that some of their followers won't ultimately won't end up in His kingdom. But ultimately, I find their beliefs to be false.

(Of course I respect other people have different thoughts on the matter. These are just my deeply studied beliefs).

Wow been to both. It says in the land of Jerusalem. He was speaking to people who had never seen or been there let alone Bethlehem. Don't you think Joseph Smith knew where Jesus was born?

I used to live in Colorado, ~200 miles from Denver. When I talking to my online friends in Australia, I was from "Denver". They had never heard of my city, and only sort of Colorado, but knew "Denver".

Image now talking to people 2000 years ago and describing a location across the globe. Do you think they're going to know Middle Eastern geography enough to differentiate between two cities <5 miles apart?? No, you go with the larger big city for your location: the land of Jerusalem (in this case).

Apparently not--He didn't know where the bible said the garden of Eden had been either---Minnesota is a far cry from the Middle east. But, hay, Moses heard wrong, I guess, in spite of describing the land all around it. A massive flood still did not alter the land enough to blot out all the landmarks stated. But, then, the bible is corrupted and JS has it right---God just didn't want Moses to know the truth----Minnesota it must be.

I live in Texas.

Most Americans I speak with don't know where my town is.

I'm lucky if they recognize "on the western edge of Ft. Hood", but more often than not I have to say "we're about two hours northwest of Austin" or "we're about four hours southwest of the Dallas - Fort Worth Metroplex."
