• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Milky Way galaxy finds home in Laniakea supercluster - The Washington Post

In case you an intergalactic traveler and are lost, here is a video showing a map of the local galactic supercluster called Laniakea, which means ‘immeasurable heaven’ in Hawaiian. The lines in the diagram represent the flow of galaxies towards Great Attractors, and this flow is used to distinguish one supercluster from another.

Note that we are only on the outskirts of the Laniakea, and hardly in any kind of privileged position.

To the same scientific information, Christians see God. Atheists see oblivion.
Evidence? What evidence?

It does look like an angel. :)

I'm also not seeing anyone talking about oblivion. To me it's beautiful and awesome... I doesn't need to have made by anything for it to impress me.

(I'm just sad that our supercluster address is probably never going to be particularly relevant to humanity. We'll be lucky to even get out of the Solar system, let alone the Milky Way.)

If it's the graphic I saw earlier, pretty sure no one's claiming it's not CGI.
This is the person claiming the ISS is a hoax, the earth is geocentric (and possibly flat), and that there is a worldwide conspiracy that unites scientists under the banner of Satan to trick good Christians into going to hell, among other inane things.

Yes, I know. Here he seems to be acting smug for having identified a graphic from a POV a couple million light years away as CGI.

I'm glad I'm not a creationist, that is a worldly term.

Creationism is in a dismal state, we had Ken Ham (awful debator) take on Bill Nye the unscientific guy. It should've been Kent Hovind (who is better able to articulate) but he is in prison....he should have reread the verse where it says to just pay the taxes.

So many of the creationists resources conform to "falsely so called science". They will not stand their ground on a rock...the word of God. They will make every excuse and "flow" with the wind every which way.

I'm glad I'm not a creationist by the worlds standards.

Good christian going to hell?!?!?!? That's work salvation. Christian just means whether you believed or not in Jesus Christ. Once you believed, it is done....nothing can take away your salvation...because it's a free gift of god.

Oblivion? I'm not quite sure what you mean.

I see a galactic supercluster, a natural entity. If you see God, you are reading in far more than what the information supports.

Evidence? What evidence?

For God? None here that points clearly and unambiguously towards the existence of any Gods.

I can create that in photoshop in 5 minutes.

Really? In only five minutes? You should post that up on youtube to show you great skill with photoshop... unless that wasn't actually true? Surely you wouldn't make something up to prove a point? Wouldn't that be lying... a sin?

What is the value of YOU in this super cluster?
Just like what Job's wife said: Curse God and die.
