• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Yup.

Look busy ... give the public something ... anything ... to keep that support money coming in.

Scientific American comes up with something new or improved every month.

... I think scientists have just wanted to know if "Hell" really could freeze over. And I guess they found out it did. :D

According to Dante, Hell is frozen over, or at least Cocyctus.

What a grossly dismissive attitude. I am going to say that is exactly what you do or did for a living as well. You worked in hopes of getting to keep your job and make more money doing it.

Doesn't sound so silly when it's YOU does it?

Scientific American comes up with something new or improved every month.

Is that the only source of information you get about science? It's a lot bigger than that.

But, hey, we can all make fun of the goofballs in the labcoats can't we? I mean they aren't really doing anything useful! LOLOL. Scientists. Just trying to suck your money up with their lies and games. Pshaw! What a bunch of wasteful sub-humans, eh?

It IS funny! Because everyone knows that scientists are just standing around "looking busy" and trying to get more of your hard earned money!

LOL.

(Actually that description sounds more like ministers and priests. Just standing around saying magical phrases to the air and you give them money. Nah, that's insulting.)

Interesting question. I'm thinking that by reclassifying Pluto, it gives it the kind of "scientific image" that sounds like it's worth studying continuously and more in depth rather than taking it for what it is ... just a big ol' hunk of ice. Who knows? Maybe by studying it, we'll cure cancer ... or something, as well as spend some hard earned taxpayer money along the way. o_O

This post is such a sad indicator of how little people know about science. Amazing breakthroughs that help in the field of medicine actually came from the Apollo missions.

But it's probably more fun to denigrate scientists as taking your tax money for fun. It certainly beats READING FACTS or things.

Thank you. I, too, am attempting to get in on the fun of denigrating scientists. Guess they couldn't hack it in the business school and get a REAL degree, huh? But in the end they DO get all your money even if they never do anything for you.

No.

My feelings aren't hurt. I just didn't realize that scientists were such awful people. The scientists I do know must have hidden it from me!

But I know what you mean. It's often fun to make fun of people we don't know or understand. People who do a job we don't understand very well.

The US today is great because of the work of these scientists but their time has passed. We are now electing officials who actively denigrate scientific work and call it "lies". Our new saviors are businesspeople. They are the ones we need to care about today.

It's going to be a great future for our nation as we elect a President who appoints climate skeptics to key positions even though the science indicates they are wrong, wrong, wrong. But the climate skeptics know that the REALLY important stuff is helping business grow. If an industry needs to have fewer environmental laws hampering it, they should get their way! Before the EPA existed we had some nice cancer clusters and children dying from leukemia because of earlier industrial pollution, but those days are over.

The role of science in our society is SO YESTERDAY. Today it's MONEY!

(but no money for scientists. What did they ever do for us, apart from most everything you see around you).

Don't you worry; I appreciate science plenty. And yes, I know that advances came through the Apollo missions.

Have they actually seen the debris that they claim Pluto hasn't cleared? Please note the Pluto's orbit is very eccentric and that claim would need to include a very immense trajectory at a vey extreme angle to the rest of the planetary orbits. One moment Pluto is within the Oort cloud and Keiper Belt and the next it is out. So how is it expected to clear its orbit since those regions are constantly in motion?

Just the kuiper belt. The oort cloud is much further out.

Furthermore, the Keiper Belt itself is a theoretical construct and has never actually been observed or verified. It is assumed to surround the Solar System because that would explain where comets are coming from without any predictable direction being probable to calculate. They could very well be arriving from interstellar space as far as we know.

Wow, you really don't do your research at all, do you? We have discovered many kuiper belt objects.

Why not disqualify my eyeball as an eyeball because it doesn't resemble Donald Trump's eyeball?

Does your eye not have a retina at the back? Does it not have a circular pupil? Does it not have that jelly stuff inside? In what ways does your eye lack a resemblance to Trumps?

The money used for the space program is not just sent into space. The technologies we develop are used in everyday life. I bet that you use at least half a dozen different technologies that originated in the space program.

I'm not talking about tax dollars specifically.

I'm talking about other forms of support as well.

Income from funding projects and such.

Spare me the fake indignation.

Most scientists today are doing the Devil's work and getting this world prepared for the coming of the Antichrist.

Not consciously, mind you, but doing it.

It's only fake if you don't think that if I were to say the SAME THING about your pastor isn't insulting.

Most scientists today are doing the Devil's work and getting this world prepared for the coming of the Antichrist.

Then don't use any science.

Not consciously, mind you, but doing it.

No, you should TAKE OWNERSHIP of that statement. You are calling them workers for Satan. DESPITE the fact that many are actually religious people who believe in God. You are telling them that YOU, who don't know what it is they do, are doing the work of Satan.

Own it. Man up. Take responsibility for the hatred you are spewing at them!
