Creed's "What's This Life For" said:
Hurray for a child
That makes it through
If there's any way
Because the answer lies in you
They're laid to rest
Before they know just what to do
Their souls are lost
Because they could never find
What's this life for
I see your soul, it's kind of gray
I see your heart, you look away
You see my wrist, I know your pain
I know your purpose on your plane
Don't say a last prayer
Because you could never find
What's this life for
But they ain't here anymore
Don't have to settle the score
Cause we all live
Under the reign of one king

Scott Stapp now confesses to being a Christian, only says that while in Creed he was struggling with his personal beliefs. Creed wasn't a Christian band.

Bono of U2 is Catholic.

Marty Friedman of Megadeth professes to be a Christian. He played most of the guitars on the last Tourniquet CD "Where Moth And Rust Destroy"

The drummer for Iron Maiden is now a Christian

Kerry Livgren and Dave Hope of Kansas became Christians in the late 70's. This led to the lead singer quitting the band and he was replaced by John Elefante - also a Christian.

Mark Farner of Grand Funk Railroad is now a Christian

Alice Cooper is a Christian now too.

well... that cleared up a lot
what about dave mustaine? there was a lot of controversy over him being christian or not... apparently he did a song with pillar, but it got cancelled or something.

and

I believe fiveinjuly was refering to a song on their My Own Prison CD titled What's This Life For.

oh yeah... that song didn't really jump at me when he said what he said... that makes more sense lol... can't really explain that one...

just to let ya guys know, creed isnt a christian band. in a plugged-in article about them scott strap said that he isnt a christian, and doesnt want to be seen that way. as a child he was in a VERY VERY conservative christian family and was made fun of by his dressy clothes ect. and gave up his faith. so ya just thought id clear that up. oh ya, i agree with you punkskater about the whole secular music thing

Milla: search on Google for the lyrics to Creed's songs. For whatever reason, they take most references(but not all) to God out of their CD inserts and website.

I think you aren't remembering correctly perhaps. I can tell you for a fact, Scott Stapp has never said that he wasn't a Christian. In fact, no one ever asked him if he was a Christian(!) until a few months ago. But if you would like to find out what Scott has said about his life regarding Christ here are two interviews where he opens up considerably about it:
http://www.worldmag.com/displayarticle.cfm?id=9678
http://www.christianitytoday.com/music/interviews/2004/scottstapp-0804.html

Yes, Scott Stapp is a Christian.

-added-
Another band s Big Dismal.

Preach on. I think that it is great. However one thing that would make me sad is when people who weren't even into the music before will start acting like they know all about TD. I'm basically making that comment because this summer I got into an argument with someone who knows little to nothing about christian music who tried to tello me that Switchfoot isn't christian. In a lot of people's opinion they aren't now, but that wasn't debatable at that time. Sorry, I'm just a bit bitter and annoyed at certain people....

does anyone but me see a problem when people, especially non christians, think that a group is not a christian group or christians themselves?

There's nothing wrong with discussing (not debating) it.

Actually, if you listen to the song (Which I have the CD) near the end, he says the 3rd to last line as, "Don't have to settle no G**D*** score."

FYI...

How do you know Jessica Simpson is a Christian?

Damien Jurado and pedro the lion might go in this category.
I watched the episode of DRIVEN on VH-1 done about Jessica Simpson (assuming it was all true). Her father is a preacher, and she was raised with very Christian values. She originally started off as a Christian music artist, and would have been signed as one, but she was very "mature" looking for her age when a young teen, and from what I understand, the Christian music industry disapproved of her image as such (having blossomed kinda early, I suppose) so that didn't work out for her...naturally the secular music industry took her with open arms.

its not more important than the music its self..... it just seems stupid to go around saying: " I think he's christian cus he said God In this album blah blah blah"..."but he swore in highschool wich clearly means hes going to heck"...."but I heard blah blah blah"..............I mean its just stupid. all that stuff is between them and God...I think its fine to discuss the messages that are in the lyrics or the quality of the music, but i dont see how trying to see weather or not there saved by what little knowledge of them you can peice together from hearsay and rumor is stupid.

thank you goodnight

EDIT: Im not attempting to offend anyone here, IM just saying that it gets old.

How we live our lives, as Christians, is very important, but to judge others based on a few little things we see or read about, well...........
I agree with AI in some ways. Keep your eyes on Christ, read His word, let Him influence your heart! The pressure we put on Christian musicians to be perfect is going to essentially throw them into the secular world! Pray for them......gee, what a concept!!! Instead of tearing them down and nit-picking their every move, guessing about their salvation statis.... just pray for them! I know one thing for sure, and you can trust me on this...............they need our prayers. Even if you don't like what you read or see, pray for them. If they claim to be Christian, pray for them!!! If they say they aren't Christian, pray for them. I think I have made my point. ;)

In His service,
Mikes mom

"Bono is Catholic"

well actually in the article the article in Christianity Today he likes to call himself a follower and believer of Jesus Christ. That labels are destructive and that he feels just as comfortable in a tent revival as he does a huge Cathedrial.
