but take Usher for example at the American Music Awards he kept thanking his Lord and savior Jesus Christ...well then he really needs to start acting like it then in his videos, interviews, and personal life. It makes me question weither he's being sincere or ever since The Passion it seems like thats the "cool" thing to say.

AMEN! It really erks me when secular artists do this. It's like, if they are (like Usher) singing about unGodly type stuff, or have vulgarness to their act, etc...then they are better off leaving things like "thanking his Lord and saviour Jesus Christ" out of it.....

Better yet, they need to make a complete turn around! But well, that's between them and God....:sigh:

got a few more for ya. Destiny' child. Michelle williams (a member of destiny's child) even has a cd solod @ the christian bookstore i work at.
chris carraba from dashboard confessional is a christian. I believe he used to be the frontman for the christian punk ban further seems forever.
kendall payne is a christian who started out in the mainstream and was pretty popular for a while. Her music was produced by ron annelio (lifehouse). Her and jason wade (lifehouse frontman) are actually friends. and on her new independant album, jason plays guitar. She also performed the theme song for the WB show "popular".
I'm just rambling out a lot of useless trivia here, but if y'all want more info on christian bands going secular and secular christian artists, check out the book entitled "faith, god, and rock and roll".

peace

Usher is a Christian. Sure he may not sing love songs to God, but if you compare his lyrics with others, he's sing about a lost love or first love, meanwhile the rest are sing about sex and one night stands. If you ask me Usher is a cut about the rest.

what about that confession song? he has to confess to his girlfriend or wife or whatever that he's had sexual intercourse with a lady he hardly even knows and is having a baby with her because of it...

So just because he doesn't talk about as gritty of subject matter as fellow "musicians" do, he belives that Jesus Christ is the Risen Lord as well as dedicating his life to glorify Jesus Christ.

Folly.

Mentioning God in interviews has become a fad amongst celebrities (as well as having faith in multiple religions at the same time), and shouldn't be taken on face value.

Evanescence "Tourniquet" suggests that at least a few in the band were/are Christians.

Switchfoot is still a Christian band, they just switched to a non-Christian label. The logic is that by switching labels, they will be able to reach non-Christians better. I think it is a smart move for bands that consider what they do as outreach.
