  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Kind of odd..

God led me to a certain verse in the Bible tonight. Out of nowhere I just started thinking 'Revelations 13:16', so I figured it'd be a good idea to look it up.

Revelations 13:16 says 'He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to recieve a mark on his right hand or on his forehead..'

I didn't recall what the verse was about until I read it. My question is.. Why would God lead me to that verse right now, just seemingly out of nowhere? Has anyone else had this kind of experience before.. where the thought just won't leave you alone until you figure out what it is? I'm quite stumped.

Hi Branwen,
Yes, I have had that happen many times, and a couple of thoughts come to mind.
If the reason isn't readily apparent to you, ask the Lord to show you why He brought that verse to your mind (Jas.1:5), if in fact it was a special prompting of His Spirit that led you there, or if not, to give you a peace about just "forgetting" about it for the time being, and like Mary, just "ponder" it in your heart (Lk.2:19) until He either gives you more light on it, or allows your concern over it to lift.

Many times I have started out reading a certain passage in the Bible, and then had the Lord lead me to where he really wanted me to be reading/studying, through my looking up cross-references (in the margin) that were related to the original passage, etc. After following a few "rabbit-trails" of cross-references, I sometimes end up in a totally different section of the Bible than where I began, but then know in my spirit that that's where He's led me, as I sense His Spirit ministering to me strongly there! :)
