The problem is with people who think evolution doesn't work that way and that many small changes can't result in a new species; e.g. people who don't think a whale could evolve from a terrestrial quadruped.

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

They would have to provide some evidence for that belief. Otherwise it is no different than believing that people cannot walk across town. Sure a person can walk to the convenience store and back. Or even to the nearest supermarket, but walking all the way across town? Not possible.

A genus is just a convenient taxonomic rank - as I already mentioned, I don't know what the ranking procedure would be if one species gives rise to a whole new branching lineage of other species; but if it was thought necessary to re-rank the hierarchy in some way so that new genera are introduced below the original genus (which would, presumably, be promoted), why should that be a problem? It would just be a question of adjusting the taxonomy to accommodate the new members; the ancestral relationships between the species don't change, just their labelling.
