Now that AV has finally solved one of Life's Great Mysteries, we have two choices:
1. Re-educate the biologists
or
2. Rewrite the Bible substituting 'genus' for 'kind'

And, to complete the circle, according to that same etymological dictionary, kind doesn't refer to species or genus (see entry below).

We can however reveal that kind should actually be gecyndboc based on Aelfric's original translation of the Book of Genesis into real, Saxon, English, as opposed to your Frenchified, King Jamesian drivel.

Ælfric's rendition of "the Book of Genesis" into Old English came out gecyndboc. The prefix disappeared 1150-1250. No exact cognates beyond English, but it corresponds to adjective endings such as Goth -kunds, Old High German -kund. Also in English as a suffix (mankind, etc., also compare godcund "divine"). Other earlier, now obsolete, senses included "character, quality derived from birth" and "manner or way natural or proper to anyone."

What has happened is that academia has gotten its hooks into it and ... as usual ... messed it up.

The first thing lying academia did was claim they "discovered" a system of classifying animals.
