• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hey there! I know just what you mean. It seems like either the depression never leaves, or it goes away or lessons for a few days or weeks and then it's just as bad or worse than ever. You don't sound mental. Well, or if you are, so am I, not that I would completely rule that out lol. But I don't think you're at all crazy. I wish I knew how to keep it from coming back. All I can say, is in those times when you feel dead (I have a lot of those times as well) just try to remember that Jesus is ALIVE and he is in you. With his help we can get through this.

Newlite, my friend, Jesus is the only way. Seeking after Him. Sometimes we go through these hard times for the purpose of getting closer to Him. I book I recommend: A future and a hope by Jon Courson(not sure about the spelling). It helped me out in times of extreme depression. I am still praying for you, Newlite and if you ever need or want someone to talk to...I am here.

As well, I have depression in my bones so to speak. There have been many hard years. I literally started to discrumble, that is why i said "my bones". I was not seeking or listening to help untill I hit the very bottom. Yes, I prayed to God, like David but then I wouldn't listen to His answers. Nor would I listen to people that were close to me. Untill the bottom came. As for the question of yours, "i sound mental or something?" That is not true. You have a problem that a lot of us experience for different reasons. We are there because of our own circumstances, going through with different friends/family to lean on support. But the strongest, most reliable support is God. That is one thing that we can all rely upon together.

A good way to help deal with depression other than seeking God's help, is to daily go outdoors and exercise. Whether it be walking, jogging, running, biking, etc. The fresh air helps clear your mind, and heal your heart. I beat depression by jogging 5 miles a day. It has really helped me, deal with my anger, and stress as well. Whatever you do, don't sit in a dark room. That can cause depression. Do things that you enjoy. When you get out and exercise, and become fit, you feel good about yourself.

I will be praying for you.

God Bless.

You sound like the way I was last year. I was probably in one of the deepest spiritual slumps in my Christian life. Every night I would lay awake in bed and stare at the ceiling... wondering why I felt the way I did. I know now after working through those times of depression and doubt that it a test from God. As tough as it was though... it definately made me a stronger person in the end and grew me spiritually. I agree that you don't sound mental. Read Psalms for inspiration. Another way to drown out the feelings of depression is simply to go out and do something with your friends. I know it's frustrating that the feelings keep comming back but you gotta take care of it one step at a time. I'm here for you if you need prayer or someone to talk to.
