Another is greedy corporations wanting laissez-faire capitalism only to exploit the people more. And they want our socialist programs and departments to be privatized to profit from them. These departments and programs have smaller overhead costs because they're not in it to make money but for the mutual benefit of society.
An example is the United States Postal Services; for less than a dollar, they will pick up mail from your house, put it on a plane, fly it across the country, and deliver it to someone's front door. Because of extreme greed, the U.S. is the only developed country without a universal healthcare system. Other countries make healthcare a right and find it immoral to make significant profits from the sick and dying. Want to bring down crime, suicide, and depression? Address basic needs like healthcare, higher education, and housing. There is a correlation between poverty and crime. Are biblical principles more in line with unfettered global capitalism or a form of democratic socialism where the people decide which services will be paid for by our tax dollars, making them "free" at the point of service? Here are some of the socialist programs and departments we love.

These are the fruits of democratic socialist-style policies, which promote equality and fairness. However, it's disheartening that many of our other policies are driven by greed and a love for money. We must prioritize adding healthcare and accessible or affordable higher education to the list of free things at the point of service. It's crucial to educate ourselves about 'social welfare benefits,' a term like socialism often misused to evoke images of famine in Mao's China or the Soviet Union when, in reality, it signifies a system that promotes equality and justice. This muddying of the waters by wrongfully conflating words has led to fearmongering and red-baiting, leaving many of us ignorant of the true meaning of socialism. These military folks who served earned those benefits and their pension. But we see people in the armed forces who spent their careers reaping the rewards of social welfare benefits provided by taxpayer dollars, condemning elected representatives advocating, among other things, similar policies for a broader range of the population. It's time we all understand the true meaning of socialism and its potential to create a more fair and just society.
