Humans didn't make it to the western hemisphere till after they'd met the Neanderthals either. It probably wasn't feasible from the part of Europe with that technology, even with the lower sea levels.Neanderthals never made it to the Western Hemisphere. Homo sapiens were able to do that because of their greater ability to travel - which, I assume, requires having more lower body strength for people who did not have equine companions. (Remember this was before tires and trains existed. I learned this stuff in a room at the Smithsonian Natural History Museum called Human History, which tells the story of hominid evolution from the extinct chimps that the first humans originated from to why only one human species remains today.
Have you see the bone structure of a Neanderthal? They were put together powerfully and hunted large prey up close.
